As the nature of being a son is not manifested, all the vows of the root and branches are gathered into body, speech, and mind, and must be kept as taught on each path. If not kept, one will fall into the Avici hell and so on. As it says in the Self-Arisen Tantra: If broken, both will be burned. If the body's vow is broken, one will burn in the great Vajra Hell, and be born in a place of wailing. If the master breaks it, there is no way to purify it. Both will be born in great weeping. If the disciple breaks it, there is a way to purify it. If the speech vow is broken, appearances will cease, and one will be born in a place of great dark dust. Even after emerging from there, one will be born as a mute. If the mind vow is broken, one will be born in a place of great mental confusion, where contention never ceases, with strife and great suffering, or one may become without memory, or one's memory may become rigid, afflicted by epileptic diseases, and ultimately be born in a place of weeping. Thus it is. If well-guarded, the benefits are immeasurable. As it says in the Secret Essence Tantra: Those who hold the supreme lineage of the Victorious Ones are honored by the lords of the world and their retinues. The noble and those with vows regard them as sons and brothers, bless them, enter the realm of the Sugatas, and unite with the indestructible Samantabhadra. Thus it is. Therefore, the path of the Vajrayana has extremely great advantages and disadvantages. The primordial protector said: Those who practice my Dharma, if they practice properly, will attain Buddhahood. If they practice improperly, they will be born in hell. It is impossible to be born as an ordinary sentient being. Therefore, its advantages and disadvantages are extremely great. Thus it was said. Secondly, the way to enter the path of liberation is to abandon here all the generation and completion stage meditations taught in all the common paths, because they do not go beyond the nature of conceptual thought. As it says in the Self-Arisen Tantra: The yogi of signs and words clings to words and practices words. If one relies on words without understanding, I have not said that is liberation. The yogi who relies on signs, if one relies on signs oneself, and with practice, one flatters others, bound by one's own thoughts, I have not said that is liberation either. The yogi who follows destruction, who abides on the ground of whatever faith,

The practice of devotion, the first ground is destroyed by hope. I have not said that this is liberation. The yoga of certainty of self-nature is the meditation of non-conceptual words. The one with the nature of non-conceptuality, that too, I have not said is liberation. The yoga of appearance and mind, everything arises from my mind. If you realize the mind itself, what is there to do? Constantly saying that, I have not said that it is liberation. The yoga of entering action, one desires to accomplish the meaning itself in action. Those bound by great actions, first generate the mind of enlightenment and then act. From then on, all actions are done and accomplished. That too, I have not said is liberation. The yoga of action and cause, the cause itself is raised as the path. Hoping for the cause, looking to the cause. The cause itself is manifested, that too, I have not said is liberation. The yoga of the agent and condition, seeking the true demon through practice. Holding onto dissimilar factions, that too, I have not said is liberation. The yoga of the ultimate result, taking realization as the path. Not abiding in the ground and the path, seeing one's own suchness, one considers it true great liberation. The yoga of the true demon, even after finding one's own realization, in the pure appearance of the bardo, seeing one's own true nature, then one considers it ultimate liberation. The yoga of ultimate liberation, in the ground of finding certainty, having found and seen one's own suchness, one considers it truly abiding in the ground. The yoga of accomplished action, is the primordial pure great Buddha. From that, it is said that there is no departure. Likewise, in the great yoga, it is said that there is no ground to practice, it is said that there is no path to traverse. Thus, the first eight do not liberate because of effort and action, the latter four abandon the elaboration of effort on the path, therefore, they are considered liberated in the great yoga of primordial abiding and self-liberation. If someone asks, if the stains of the elements cannot be purified by acceptance and rejection, then how can such a path liberate? Answer: The nature of awareness is originally free from acceptance and rejection, and is primordial liberation, or immediate liberation, or self-liberation, or abiding liberation, or the nature of complete liberation, because it cannot be transcended. That which is stained by adventitious stains is removed by the oral instructions of the lama, and the nature of reality is pointed out as it is, that is all.
