It is like this, the three tantras of self-existing wisdom are said to be in the form of the seeing eye. Thus it is said. Seventh, The two tantras of entering self-liberation, namely, relying on the thirteenth chapter of the Lion's Roar Root Perfection Sutra, one relies on the view without bias; relying on the fourteenth chapter of the Jeweled Fine Cloth Sutra, it is declared to enter the practice of yogis, these two are said to be in the form of the mind of remembrance, namely: The two tantras of entering self-liberation are said to be in the form of the mind of remembrance. Thus it is said. Eighth, the tantra of the rituals of the wise, namely, relying on the one hundred and eight chapters of the Glorious Black Wrathful Mother Tantra, it is declared that the activity of protecting the Dharma is vast, and it is said to be like a good dog guarding the house, namely: The tantra of the rituals of the wise is said to be like a dog guarding the house. Thus it is said. Thus, the reason why the eighteen tantras are summarized into eight parts is because of the need. That is to say, if there are no two root tantras, then for a tree with rotten roots, it is impossible to produce branches and fruits. Therefore, the Za Tantra is said to be the root, intending that the root merges into wisdom. If there are no two tantras of the mother tantra and the son tantra, it is like a flower without petals that cannot appear. Therefore, the vastness is said to be the petals, intending to compare the words and meanings. If there are no two branch tantras, it is like a person with a broken arm climbing a rock. Therefore, the branch is said to be the entwined tree trunk, intending that the Dharmadhatu and wisdom are inseparable. If there are no two tantras of entering self-liberation, it is like a corpse without a heart. Therefore, the remembrance of wisdom arises on the path, and it is said to be like a man with courage, intending that the lamp recognizes its own nature. If there are no two tantras of scripture and clear reason, it is like there will be no fruit without flowers. Therefore, clarity is said to be a flower, intending to directly hold the self-nature of the lamp. If there are no four tantras of pith instructions, it is like cultivating without fruit. Therefore, maturity is said to be fruit, intending that the three bodies arise on the path. If there are no three tantras of self-existing wisdom, it is like not being able to distinguish colors without eyes. Therefore, the path of liberation is said to be the seer, intending that the fruit is directly on the path. If there is no tantra of the rituals of the wise, it is like a dog guarding the house

Because there is no (protection), it is like enemies and thieves lurking and coming. Therefore, fully explaining the oral instructions is intended to protect the teachings. The fruit of the meaning of these eight categories is that they all converge on the root of awareness, and the nature of awareness is emptiness and clarity, free from clinging. Therefore, by regarding this tantra as self-aware awareness, one can encounter the wisdom of awareness. By holding it, meditation naturally abides; by reciting it, the meaning to be expressed will appear in the mind; by explaining it, one can obtain common and supreme accomplishments; by practicing it, samsara can be completely emptied; by listening to it, awareness will focus on the essential meaning, like a string of pearls. If the meanings within it are distinguished, one can also see reality. After such determination, for those of inferior capacity who need to be tamed with complex methods, the eighteen tantras are fully shown; for those of medium capacity, they are shown in a way that is summarized into eight categories; for those of superior capacity who do not like complexity, two divided from means and three divided from nature, a total of five, are sufficient. That is, the means tantra that should be held and serves as a symbol is self-aware great luminosity; the means tantra that serves as a symbol is the path of Trekchö Tögal, these two. Divided from nature are the base tantra, self-born wisdom, the heart essence tantra, the light radiance of the heart, and the essence tantra, the combination of the meaning of the heart essence, these three, a total of five. Furthermore, for those of superior capacity, it is shown through the path of the base, the reality of awareness, the meaning tantra that pervades everything, and the words tantra that serves as its symbol and method of practice, these two. For those who are extremely superior and free from complexity, through the seventeen tantras, all terms are completely shown in the realm of self-aware luminosity, the single base tantra, thereby accomplishing it. As it is said in the *Prasaṅgika*: Thus, the nature of reality is inexpressible, from the base of differentiated words it arises, the order of words is extremely pure, now it is complete in the state of inexpressibility. Or as it is said in the *Atiyoga Arrangement*: Its meaning is scattered by words, for those with scattering, the base is the heart essence, for those without scattering, the number is seventeen, if the nature is extremely without scattering, it is the nature of the Vajra Posture. The superior who are free from scattering are liberated by the three times of past, future, and present. So on and so forth, for those with scattering, the base tantra and the heart essence tantra, all the cycles of bindus are included. For those of medium capacity, there are seventeen tantras. For those of superior capacity, there is the tantra of self-born seeds. For those of superior Tögal, they are liberated by the three times of past, future, and present.
