The procedure for demonstrating Nirvana after the completion of the Great Vehicle is as follows: Our teacher, King Rūpavat (རྒྱལ་པོ་གཟུགས་ཅན་སྙིང་པོ།), upon the urging of his younger brother, invited the Buddha to teach the Dharma. At that time, although the ranks of the heretics were elevated, due to the glory of the ten powers, those heretics and their teachers were placed at the end of the line, and they were offended many times. The six heretic teachers, angered that the patrons no longer revered them, requested to compete with the Buddha in miraculous powers. King Rūpavat (རྒྱལ་པོ་གཟུགས་ཅན་སྙིང་པོ།) said that the Buddha is like the light of the sun, how can you, like fireflies, compare to him? The heretics were displeased and thought that the king was biased towards Gautama. Therefore, they went to Shravasti and requested King Prasenajit (གསལ་རྒྱལ།) of Kosala to be the master of the competition of miraculous powers. He also declined with words fearing your defeat, and the heretics were even more dissatisfied, scolding that King Prasenajit (གསལ་རྒྱལ།) had also been deceived by Gautama. The king also admitted it and made the same request to the Tathagata, and the Buddha agreed. When they told the six heretic teachers about this, they said that Gautama was either running away or seeking help. We also need to seek help, so they urged the Parivrajaka Rabhasangha of Vaishali. But Rabhasangha also said that he could not compete with the Buddha, so they abandoned him and instead invited five hundred hermits at the foot of the Himalayas as assistants. Those hermits agreed and instructed, "Show us a sign when the time is right." At that time, the nephew of King Prasenajit's (གསལ་རྒྱལ།) maternal uncle, named Black, had his limbs severed by enemies and thrown at the crossroads of the city. Relatives said to the six heretic teachers, "Please speak the true words that can restore these limbs." The heretics were unable and remained silent in shame. Then Ananda prayed to the Buddha. The Buddha said, "By the power of the truth that the Three Jewels are supreme, may these limbs be restored to their original state." As soon as the words were spoken, the limbs were restored. Ananda loudly announced, "The heretics have been defeated." The miraculous powers were thus demonstrated. After that, on the road from Shravasti to Rajagriha, the Tathagata resided in the splendid and complete Hall of Miraculous Manifestations, sitting on a jeweled throne. The six heretic teachers

Furthermore, when countless hosts of gods arrived to witness the miracles in the sky, along with their own sixty thousand halls being burned, the Blessed One went to the monastery and emitted rays of light from the door, burning all the great miracle halls. The six teachers said, 'If Gautama's hall is burned, if we take up stones, we can pacify the dispute here.' As they said this, the king and his entourage silently understood. There, by the power of the Buddha, the fire burned all the scent of the hall, and he himself became a peaceful and beautiful hall. The king rejoiced and said to the heretics, 'The Blessed One has already shown miracles, now it is your time.' They remained silent because they had no courage. Then, the Teacher again pressed his right foot, adorned with the auspicious wheel, on the ground, and this great earth shook violently. Therefore, the five hundred hermits in the mountain caves, whom the six teachers had previously sought for help, understood the signal to 'come' and flew into the sky. Just seeing the Thus-Gone One, the hairs of faith stood on end, let alone helping them. They prostrated to the Buddha with five limbs, heard the Dharma and saw the truth. They requested ordination, received full ordination with 'come', and again became Arhats. Thereafter, the Blessed One, at the age of fifty-six, in the year of the Wood Rabbit (year uncertain), in the small winter month, went to the Hall of Miracles. At the time of the new moon, when the king traditionally set this time as the beginning of the new year, they gathered as agreed with the six heretic teachers to compete in miracles. It is said that among the immeasurable beings who came to watch, the display of great miracles was like this: On the first day of the month, when King Light offered, as soon as he planted the toothpick in the ground, it became a tree equal in height to five hundred yojanas. That tree's flowers were as large as chariot wheels, the fruits were as large as five-bushel containers, and the roots of the branches showed the radiance of the seven jewels, dispelling the darkness of the four continents. The tree emitted a rich fragrance, giving pleasure to the senses, and the taste was delicious, and so on.
