Gautama, to whom do you practice pure conduct? He replied: I have no abbot. There is no one like me. I am the only perfect Buddha. I have become cool and exhausted defilements. Then he was asked again: Are you an Arhat? He replied: I am the Arhat of the world. I am the supreme teacher. With gods, non-gods, and gandharvas, I have no equal. Then he was asked again: Do you claim to be a victor? He replied: Those who have attained the exhaustion of defilements, I am victorious over sinful dharmas. Therefore, I am the victor who has subdued sins. Then he was asked again: Gautama, where are you going? He replied: I am going to Varanasi (an ancient Indian city in the 6th century BC, now Benares). Having gone to that bright city, I will light the lamp of Dharma for sentient beings who are like the blind; I will beat the great drum of Dharma for sentient beings who are like the deaf. Having said this, he went to Varanasi to beg for alms. After finishing his meal, he went to the Deer Park at Ṛṣipatana, to the place where the five monks were staying. There, the five monks saw the Tathagata coming from afar and said: The ascetic Gautama, who is lazy, eats too much, and has fallen away from renunciation, is coming here. Let no one greet him, let no one rise, let no one take his robes and bowl. If he wants to sit, let him have a seat with water, etc., so they made internal rules. But when the Teacher arrived, the five monks could not bear his majesty and all rose from their seats. They honored him with reverence and great respect, so the rules they had made were broken like a rope of sand. Then the Teacher sat down on the seat that had been prepared and delighted them with the nectar of his speech. The five monks asked: Venerable Gautama, your senses are clear and your skin is pure, have you manifested the distinction of seeing wisdom? He replied: Do not call the Tathagata "Venerable," for a long time you will not be at ease. I have obtained the nectar, I have become a Buddha, I am all-knowing, I am all-seeing, and so on. Finally, he rebuked them: Have you not made such rules? By revealing their faults in this way, their signs of being non-Buddhists disappeared in an instant, and with shame and regret, they bowed their heads at the feet of the Teacher.

With head ornaments paying homage, and igniting the flames of confession for the accumulation of misdeeds, thereby gaining certainty on the right path. Initially, in the middle, and finally possessing the nature of virtue, becoming the possession of a monk draped in robes like a rainbow. There, wearing it like a householder. First, in the fundamental Vinaya Pitaka of the precepts, one must learn how to wear the Dharma robe in a circular manner. And so on, including these precepts. Then, on the fourth day of the Water-star month (Tibetan calendar), he pondered where to turn the great Wheel of Dharma. In the place where the Buddhas of the past had turned the Dharma wheel, a thousand thrones of seven precious substances appeared. In order to generate respect and affection for the thrones of the three Buddhas of the past, he prostrated and circumambulated, and then on the fourth throne, like wiping a golden statue, he sat down serenely without hesitation. Then, the five monks also prostrated. When they sat down with reverence, rays of light emanated from his body, and eighteen auspicious signs appeared. The continuity of suffering was severed. Inconceivable beings such as Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of the ten directions, gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, asuras, garudas, etc., arrived in an instant, bowed at his feet, and sat down. At that time, Brahma offered a golden wheel with a thousand spokes, adorned in every way, rivaling the sun, which the Buddhas of the past had held, and prayed with a mind inclined to turn the Wheel of Dharma. At that time, a golden deer king emerged from the twin forests, gazing at the top of the wheel and sitting down. The assembled retinues also sat gazing only at the face of the Thus-Gone One. The Victorious One remained silent throughout the morning. At noon, the conversation gradually increased. In the latter part of the night, he said to the five disciples: "Monks, these two extremes should not be practiced by those who have gone forth, namely the extreme of indulgence in desires and the extreme of asceticism. Therefore, having abandoned these two extremes, the Thus-Gone One teaches the Dharma of the Middle Way." Through this explanation, wisdom was opened, and for the first time, the Wheel of Dharma of the Four Noble Truths was turned, turning the Wheel of Dharma in twelve aspects, with one utterance allowing each person to hear the words appropriate to them, hearing the different teachings of the three vehicles, feeling at ease in this great thousandfold world.
