The Sangha with complete precepts is said to be the foremost field of merit. Secondly, in the Glorious Guhyasamaja Tantra, it says: "At the beginning of all offerings, completely abandoning all offerings, one should diligently make offerings to the Lama. By pleasing him, one will attain the supreme all-knowing state." Thus, for mantra practitioners, the Lama is the supreme field of merit, and there is no other field of merit that can compare. The scriptures praise this greatly. Thirdly, it is said: "There is no teacher like the Buddha, no protector like the Dharma, and no field of merit like the Sangha. Therefore, one should offer to the Three Jewels." In general, there is no field of merit superior to the Three Jewels. Generally speaking, those of the lower vehicles and ordinary beings diligently offer respect and service to the pure field of merit with abundant resources. Those who lack resources strive to please the Buddhas with offerings of Samantabhadra visualized through the mind. It is said that just as planting good seeds in a good field causes the fruit to grow abundantly, so too will merit increase. However, those of the Mahayana vehicle should cherish lower beings and take the accomplishment of others' benefit as their priority. The scripture says: "Those who have no protector or friend, the sick and the powerless, the old and infirm with weakened faculties, the poor oppressed by hunger and thirst, those with Bodhicitta should protect these beings who have no refuge." Thus, relying on the good thought of cherishing others more than oneself, one should diligently train in the conduct of a Bodhisattva. The third has two parts: the Khenpo who dedicates and the time for dedication. First, Guru Rinpoche said: "The view understands the meaning of reality, meditation is capable of Samadhi, possessing compassion and Bodhicitta, all qualities are completely perfect, such a noble spiritual friend is the supreme teacher for dedication." Thus, it is best if one possesses all the qualities and is a great being who sees with wisdom and whose words of truth are accomplished. If not, then as it is said in this very text: "Whoever aspires with faith, that Lama is the actual Buddha." Thus, the donor should also have faith and aspiration towards a virtuous spiritual friend who possesses the three trainings and practices pure conduct.

If it can be done as usual, it is said that it will be accomplished as it is by the power of the great truth that cause and effect are not deceptive. If that is also difficult, it is said in this: 'Having obtained one's own faith, it is also permissible in the presence of the Three Jewels.' Therefore, it is said that one can also dedicate oneself with great faith in the presence of the Three Jewels. Secondly: From the continuation of the previous one: 'The eighth, fifteenth, thirtieth, etc., times, the roots of virtue are dedicated in the presence of the Three Jewels.' It means that all the usual special festivals, the eighth, refers to the fifteenth, which is explained as the complete part of the crown ornament of the Blissful Origin, which is the auspicious day of Buddha Amitabha. Similarly, the thirtieth, refers to the gathering of the sun, moon, and stars, without illumination at night, which is explained as the thirtieth, which is the festival of the Blessed One Shakyamuni Buddha. The eighth is the festival of the Medicine Buddha, saying that all virtuous deeds should be valued and dedicated at these special festivals, which is considering the power of growth and change. Fourth, there are three ways of dedication: dedicating to what kind of fruit, seeking witnesses for the field of merit, and the actual dedication. First, there are two: the place of dedication and for whom it is done. The first is: From the Middle Mother Sutra: 'Good son, this root of virtue should only be dedicated to the Buddha land, and should not be dedicated to the Shravakas, Pratyekabuddhas, and other places.' As it is said, apart from the Buddha land that knows all aspects, it should not be dedicated merely for the perfection of this life and with the mind of the Hinayana. Secondly: It is also for All sentient beings are dedicated, not for the sake of one's own complete attainment, because one will fall into the land of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas.' As it is said, for the benefit of all sentient beings, dedicate with pure superior intention. If you dedicate only for the peace of oneself, it is said that the precepts of the Bodhisattva will be impaired, so it should be done properly. Secondly, there are two ways to visualize the field of merit: general and specific. The first is: When dedicating at uncertain times, etc., it is said that the witness of the field of merit is very important, so visualize the assembly of the Sugata Buddhas like the ocean.
