The meaning of the union of the two grounds, aspiration and entry, is: Aspiration is the desire to go, and entry is like actually going. When Indian teachers differentiate based on the gate of grounds, they seem to consider whether or not the truth has been seen. However, Omniscient Samyépa said: "The desire for enlightenment for the sake of others is aspiration, and entering by pervading through practice is entry. It is considered that the essence is the same, but the aspects are different." Thus he said. "The mind of aspiring to enlightenment and entering into enlightenment itself." Thus it is said, and it is also necessary to mainly train in aspiration alone at first. As it is said in our own tradition: "Having trained the mind in aspiration bodhicitta, entry will come naturally, and if the mind of aspiration is not generated, entry cannot be accomplished. It is the cause and effect of non-existence not arising." Thus it is said. However, some may think that the Vajrayana is skilled in means, so there is no need for the mind training and extensive explanations of the causal vehicle. This is foolish, because the root of the Mahayana lies in the generation of bodhicitta, so it is explained extensively. As it is said: "The distinction of vehicles is wisdom and compassion. Otherwise, claiming to be a Mahayana practitioner is like a donkey wearing a lion's skin, which is ridiculous." Not only that, but one can understand clearly from the direct instruction of the textual words. Moreover, in these circumstances, if emptiness and compassion are not united in pairs, one cannot go on the path purely in a biased way. In the Emanation of Manjushri, it is said: "To separately contemplate emptiness and abandon sentient beings is also the work of Mara. To discriminate with wisdom and fixate on great compassion is also the work of Mara." Thus it is said, so from the clear aspect, although it appears as the sound of compassion, from the aspect of emptiness, it is necessary to be without attachment. Third, introducing the object to be purified and the means of purification: Generally, the object to be purified is the same as refuge and dharma. Specifically, all the minds and mental factors, such as cultivating ill will towards others from beginningless time and using the generation of bodhicitta in reverse, are the objects to be purified, and the yoga of generating bodhicitta is the means of purification. Practicing these two in union is ultimate bodhicitta, which in other traditions is known as bodhicitta that is inseparable from samsara and nirvana. Third branch
