Thus, bodhicitta should be generated with verses. In this way, all relative bodhicitta is included in the two, aspiration and action. As it says in the Bodhicaryāvatāra: "Bodhicitta, in brief, should be known as twofold." In the great commentaries of the Pāramitā tradition, this bodhicitta is extensively divided into seven parts, but here, according to the tradition of Śāntideva, it is summarized into two parts. The meaning of aspiration and action is that aspiration is like wanting to go, and action is like actually going. When the Indian teachers distinguish them from the perspective of boundaries, they consider whether or not one has seen the truth. However, Kunchen Samyepa said, "The desire for enlightenment for the sake of others is aspiration bodhicitta, and engaging in it with diligence is action bodhicitta. They are one in essence but different in emphasis." Thus he said. It is also said, "It is the aspiration bodhicitta and the action bodhicitta." And it is necessary to primarily train in aspiration bodhicitta first, because it says in our own tradition, "Having trained the mind in aspiration bodhicitta, action bodhicitta will naturally arise. If aspiration bodhicitta is not generated, it is impossible to accomplish action bodhicitta. It is the cause and effect of the non-existent not arising." Thus it is said. However, some people think that Vajrayana is skillful in means, so it is not appropriate to teach the mind training and extensive explanations of the causal vehicle, but this is foolish. Because the root of the Mahayana is bodhicitta, it is explained extensively. As it says, "The difference of the vehicle is wisdom and compassion. Otherwise, claiming to be Mahayana is like a donkey wearing a lion's skin." Not only that, but it can also be clearly understood from the literal meaning of the scriptures. And in these circumstances, if emptiness and compassion are not united, it is impossible to go on the pure path in isolation. In the Manjushri Nirmanakaya Sutra, it says, "If one individually clings to emptiness and abandons sentient beings, it is also the work of Mara. If one discriminates with wisdom and clings to great compassion, it is also the work of Mara." Thus it is said, so from the perspective of appearance, it should appear as the sound of compassion, but from the perspective of emptiness, it is necessary to be without attachment. Third, introducing the nature of what is to be purified and what purifies, in general, what is to be purified is the same as refuge and Dharma, but the special feature is:

From beginningless time, contemplating ill will towards others, and using bodhicitta in a reversed manner, etc., all minds and mental factors are what is to be purified. The yoga of bodhicitta is the purifier. Practicing these two in union is the ultimate bodhicitta, another saying is the bodhicitta of samsara and nirvana being inseparable. Third, the seven-branch offering has two parts: the main practice and the benefits of the summary. First, there are seven categories, the first is the branch of prostration, which has four parts: what is the object, in what way, for what purpose, and the benefits of seeking in this way. The first is, the field of merit mentioned earlier. The second is, transforming one's ordinary body to fill the sky, and together with all sentient beings pervading the sky, with great respect of the three doors and devotion of knowing you, prostrating with the five limbs touching the ground, from their body, speech, and mind, immeasurable light emanates, merging into our own body, speech, and mind, thereby purifying obscurations, this is the first branch to counteract pride. The third is, in order to bless me and all sentient beings, to bestow the blessings of body, speech, and mind, and to easily bestow the two kinds of accomplishments, contemplate and recite: 'Deshek Kundu Dorje Changchen Lama Je', prostrate with this verse. The fourth is the benefit, as stated in the 《Vajra Net Tantra》: 'Having subdued one's three doors, prostrating to the body of the Buddhas, if these merits had form, the world would not be able to contain them.' Just like this. Second, the branch of offering has four parts: superior offerings, unsurpassed offerings, contemplating both for the benefit of sentient beings, and its benefits. The first is the actual offerings possessed, such as the flowers of gods and humans, etc., which are outer offerings, and medicine, alcohol, torma, etc., which are inner offerings, and the secret offerings such as the burning drops of bliss and emptiness, etc., in short, with items that are particularly excellent in arrangement and worthy of offering. The second is, the offerings manifested by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas through samadhi, such as those arising from the 《Samantabhadra's Conduct and Vows》.
