Speaking spontaneously from a state of non-conceptual awareness: Padmakara's mind-essence, a single subterranean treasure. The gathered intent, golden Dharma boundless as the sky. Not the domain of six-legged creatures. 1 Because of the youthfulness of their intelligence, some children, through the asceticism of arrogant well-frogs, make a game of secret mantras, causing dismay. Shawaripa made the turtle intelligent. 2 Hey, come here, knowledgeable friends, without attachment to the intoxicating taste of partiality. In the mirror of wisdom and compassion that shows difficulties as they are, stir the guide a little and watch the spectacle. 3 However, the actions of beings possessed by the demon of ignorance, when the radiance of a hundred rays of good speech dawns, think that the darkness of unbearable gloom has come, and with wrong views hide like pigs, not seeking this. 4 Because the monk Devadatta's aspiration was impure, he even saw the Sugata as a lump of Nandi. If he prostrates even to the foolish six teachers, then I too lack the ability to please everyone's mind. 5 Therefore, the crow that delights in impurity, raising its crooked beak and making irrelevant noises, is an object of compassion, may it not obscure anyone. 6 How could one like me, with little merit in place, time, person, presume to interpret the vajra words? I feel ashamed, may it become a source of repentance. Before the wise and great holy ones, I sincerely confess. 7 Pride, conceit, arrogance, like the form of a rope, even if not entering the state of recitation mastery, yet urged by others, with a beautiful face, like a thief of the mind, I sing this song. 8 Alas! Like a lotus from the mud, the essence of many teachings is the true meaning. The commentary descending upon Lati, the mirror of wisdom and compassion, may its hundred rays become an ornament of the earth. 9 In this world, if one does not rely on a spiritual friend, one may stray. But if the secret treasury of intent is revealed, one may not stray. If I stray, I confess before the Buddhas and gurus. If I do not stray, may I become a pillar of the teachings. 10 My conceptual thoughts, the painter of the five poisons. By the blessing of Padmasambhava's compassion, through that power, I have gained the courage to ask, may all beings, someday, accomplish vast benefit for others. 11 The fangs of arrogance from hearing and knowledge

O Fortunate One! May I not stray into the forest of biased philosophical views, But be able to distinguish all dharmas like the patterns on a mushroom, And be able to grasp them as one, like holding the stem of a mushroom. 12 May I, with the renunciation that understands the prosperity of this world to be like the castor oil plant, Devoid of essence, tame my stubborn mind, And generate the courage to wander in mountain valleys And across empty snowfields. 13 May I, though scorned by worldly beings, not be rejected by the holy ones, Understand fame to be like an echo in the rocks, Not be deceived by offerings and talents, And spend my life in the conduct of a beggar. 14 May I, at the moment when the wisdom gaze of the root and lineage lamas Cherishes and protects me with great compassion, Willingly accept adverse conditions of hardship, And be diligent in prostrating to samsara. 15 Ema! May the fortress of view free from acceptance and rejection, The rosary of meditation on awareness and emptiness, without contrivance in the mind, The life of conduct like striking a sword in water, Remain in the heart of me, the vagabond. 16 May I not limit the meaning of the Great Perfection, self-existing luminosity, To merely increasing the fingerprints, But may the awareness that allows whatever appears to blaze as the path, Purify the distinctions between equanimity and subsequent attainment. 17 May the appearance of the six aggregates not diminish the well-arranged boat, May the root of the mind's nature be severed, May the delusion of dreams be absorbed into the realm of the youthful vase body, And may I remain in the state of luminosity. 18 In the expanse of one-pointedness, may my own mind be subdued by the Middle Way, In the expanse of freedom from elaboration, may I meet the Consequence School free from assertions, In the expanse of one taste, may samsara and nirvana be the Great Seal, In the expanse of no meditation, may the four visions of the Great Perfection be exhausted. 19 For my own sake, having perfected the qualities of abandonment and realization, For the sake of others, with the asceticism of unceasing compassion, Just as the buddhas of the past generated the mind of enlightenment and made aspirations, May I alone lead all mother beings. 20 May the general teachings of the Buddha, and in particular the precious teachings of the Vajra Essence, Not decline but increase like a summer ocean, And through such power, in this kingdom surrounded by snow mountains (Tibet), May the suffering of war, disease, weapons, and famine be pacified. 21 By the merit of myself and others meditating on contemplation, May all beings be included in the boat of luminous Vajra Essence, And having completely crossed the ocean of samsara, which is extremely difficult to overcome, May we reach the precious island of the state of Buddhahood.
