Therefore, it is not appropriate to apply it even to those of middling faculties, but it is said so according to common worldly language. Or, the general Sangha, unable to bring the certain Suchness into their own mindstream, confess through repentance, lamentation, and wailing in order to purify the sins and obscurations of themselves and all sentient beings who are the objects of their focus. There are three aspects to this: the distinctions of how karma is purified, the differences in the objects of focus, and the actual confession and protection. The first is said to have four divisions: purification through realization, purification through confession, purification through antidotes, and purification through experience. The first is: if one realizes that all phenomena of samsara and nirvana appear but are without inherent existence, through the wisdom of realizing selflessness, then the results of karma cannot harm one. As the Sambhuta says: "Killing Brahmins daily, committing the five inexpiable sins, enjoying the deeds of thieves, one will be liberated by this path, and will not be stained by sin, and will be very far from the faults of existence." From page 401 to 535. It is said. However, this is a statement with a hidden meaning, and it is said with reference to the yogi who has mastered the realization that self and others, happiness and suffering, samsara and nirvana are all equal. Such yogis are as rare as stars in the daytime in this world, so they despise the infallibility of karma and its results. Those with the minds of Phurbupas, who cover up their unrestrained actions with the sound of emptiness, and who practice the actions of secret mantra literally without having realized the vast expanse of liberation, are no different from those who are far away and inconceivable, except that their attire is not confused. It is too extreme for some to rely on this quote, and they should consider that the burden of ripening cannot be transferred to others. Secondly, by confessing through the completion of the four powers, even the karma of committing the five inexpiable sins can be purified. As it is said: "Obscurations are merely conceptual, therefore, if they are purified, they will definitely be purified." However, if one does not immediately destroy them with such a special antidote, one's own karma will never be wasted, even if it does not immediately ripen. As the Sutra of One Hundred Karmas says: "The actions of sentient beings, even after hundreds of kalpas, will not be wasted. When the causes and conditions come together, the results will ripen."

Thus. Therefore, whatever virtuous or non-virtuous actions one has accumulated, whether large or small, even the tiniest part, accompanies oneself like body and shadow. When the time comes, one should repeatedly contemplate that one must experience the consequences alone, and one should always think about taking and abandoning correctly and consistently. Furthermore, one should not think that only great evil deeds have such power, and that small ones do not create obstacles. For the Vinaya Sutra says, "Do not despise small sins, thinking they will not harm the body. Even a small spark can burn a mountain of grass." Therefore, one should be extremely cautious even about the smallest parts of non-virtuous actions. If it happens unintentionally, and one is involuntarily affected, then when there is a way to confess through such profound application of the four powers, one should confess immediately. Third, purification through the power of remedy: If one practices great virtue as a remedy for small non-virtuous actions, the result of the non-virtuous actions will become dull and unable to cause harm. For example, when Lord Atisha was the abbot of Vikramashila Monastery, Maitripa was expelled because he relied slightly on internal substances. That night, Lord Atisha learned in a dream that Maitripa was a Bodhisattva, and that due to the karmic result of being expelled, he would be reborn as a snake capable of circling Mount Meru three times. Lord Atisha asked what remedy there was, and the dream replied that scattering seven handfuls of salt each day would help, or going to Tibet would also help. This shows that even for such a special Bodhisattva, for small defilements that were not voluntarily incurred, one needs to rely on such remedies. Similarly, before Shakyamuni Buddha manifested enlightenment, in the womb of Yashodhara, he was blessed as an emanation of Vajrasattva, who in his previous life as Rahula, had been a king who starved a hermit for six days. Furthermore, the mother in her previous life offered a vase filled with silk, and merely because of this karmic result, he remained in the womb for six years. To show that at the time of Shakyamuni Buddha's enlightenment, only at the same moment that Rahula was eclipsed by the planet Rahu, did he emerge from the lotus of the womb, experiencing such a result. Therefore, the karma of us ordinary beings is like something that can never be exhausted.
