At the age of seven, he said that he needed permission to hold Dharma discussions with the Panditas. His mother said, "Child, your teeth have not yet been replaced, how can you hold Dharma discussions?" Therefore, she did not allow him. But he insisted on requesting. So, he was brought before King Uparaja, who had five hundred Panditas. Those Panditas argued with him one by one on matters of etiquette and honorifics, but they were unable to answer. No matter what was asked of this child, he was able to answer effortlessly. The Panditas were very surprised by this and placed his feet on their heads as a sign of respect. The king was very pleased and bestowed upon him the title of "Master Garab Dorje." All the Buddhas blessed him. The Secret Lord Vajrasattva appeared and bestowed upon him the eighteen sections of the Great Perfection Mind Series, as well as the tantras of Longchen Rabjam's twenty thousand verses, etc. Through the empowerment of the common kingship, he was considered the holder of the four Great Perfection empowerment lineages, and was also known as having received the empowerment of the Yidam deity.
