Etc., are recited, and the ritual of the four complete limbs is properly performed. The support thus generated is the object or witness for confessing obscurations, so it is important to make it very clear and distinct. As stated in the Teaching on the Four Dharmas: The Bhagavan said: Maitreya, if you possess four qualities, all sinful actions done and accumulated will be purified and completely cleansed. What are the four? The power of the support, the power of regret, the power of applying the antidote, and the power of restraint in the future. Thus, all types of confession must possess the four powers, as stated. As just explained, that itself is the power of the support. Deeply regretting all the sins and downfalls of the past is the power of regret. Reciting the hundred-syllable mantra clearly and purely is the power of applying the antidote. Resolving not to commit sins even if it costs one's life in the future is the power of restraint or reversal. Second, there are three aspects to the practice of recitation: reciting special praises, clarifying the object of focus, and explaining the meaning of the mantra. First is: As stated in the Abhidharma: Wherever vows are broken, this practice should be given. And as stated in the Garland of Flowers Tantra: Meditate on the guru Vajrasattva, by the power of the self-arisen hundred syllables, the two obscurations will be purified. There is no method more profound than this for restoring broken vows. Heroes and yoginis, this is the secret mantra of all. As stated in the Abhidharma, this is also the essence of all heroes and yoginis. Second, there are three: confessing through the body, confessing through speech, and confessing through the mind. First is: As explained earlier, the generation stage should be made very clear, and it is said that practitioners should circumambulate the mandala with hand gestures and dance postures. Second is: The sound of the hundred-syllable mantra should be proclaimed in unison, and the number of recitations, such as a hundred or a thousand, should be held by the vajra master. Third is: The mind should not be distracted or mixed with indifference, and from the mantra garland that is clear in the heart of Vajrasattva, rays of light should emanate like a string of stars, stimulating the minds of all the Sugatas of the ten directions, pleasing them with the offering of bliss and emptiness, restoring broken vows, and their minds.

From the earth, countless rays of light emanate to all sentient beings. All sentient beings of the three realms and six classes, especially the deceased and others who are the object of focus, purify the obscurations of their karma and afflictions, and contemplate all appearances and existences as the nature of Vajrasattva. The light then gathers back and strikes the body, speech, and mind of Vajrasattva at the crown of the head. Thus, the lineage of vows is stimulated, and all the blessings of the three vajras descend in the form of white light, emanating from the big toe of the right foot. Entering through the Brahma aperture at the crown of one's head, all the karma, afflictions, cognitive obscurations, and broken vows accumulated since beginningless time are thoroughly cleansed. All diseases transform into pus, blood, and filth; all sins and obscurations transform into soot-like liquid; all demonic influences transform into the forms of worms and toads, emanating from all the pores, and especially from the lower gate with a "whoosh" sound, entering nine levels below the ground, reaching the mouth of the Lord of Death, Yama, satisfying and delighting him, and deceiving the untimely death that is an obstacle to achieving enlightenment. Contemplate the body as a clear crystal egg, or as empty and transparent like light. The amount of time spent in visualization should be half the amount of time spent in recitation, and after half the time, contemplate the inside of the body completely filled with nectar, like pouring yogurt into a white crystal vase. Some people visualize the six classes of sentient beings clearly in their hearts, and then perform the method of descending nectar and purification, although that also exists, but here it is arranged according to the actual intention of the scripture, and all the key points are included. In particular, there are also some uncommon visualization instructions that come from the teachings of the great scholar (Padmasambhava), and practitioners should carefully examine them with their minds. In this way, all the actions of body, speech, and mind are integrated into one, rather than being seen as separate, which is the explanation of the empowerment related to the mandala. Furthermore, regarding this Vajrasattva meditation and recitation, some practitioners now follow the Vajrasattva generation stage ritual as described in the scripture, while for the complete four-branch ritual, they follow the old ritual as stated in the scripture, and abandon the abbreviated method, and it is also seen that some people perform intense recitation. If that is the case, then it is contrary to the scripture and tantra.
