A state of non-attachment arises. Now, because of practice, discursive thoughts increase. The thought arises that the activity of practice is greater than not practicing. This is said to be the first experience, like a stream flowing down a steep mountain. Therefore, the previous indifference and non-prediction were ignorance. At that time, instruct like this: Hey, son of a noble family, how is it when your mind is naturally and unfeignedly placed like that? Does it appear? Or is it emptiness? If it appears, then what is the shape, color, size, and manner of appearance? If it is emptiness, then if emptiness is nothing and you keep your awareness clear and awake, where will pain and suffering arise? By asking questions such as "What is it?" in a way that hits the point, cut through the flaws of clarity and emptiness that are not understood. Then, in order not to become empty talk and empty experiences, when you understand that the power of awareness arises from a slightly empty state, instruct like this: Hey, son of a noble family, then at that time, since the mind is not grasped, the emptiness that disappears from arising without a trace, where did the phenomena of earth, stones, mountains, rocks, water, wind, and plants first arise from? Did emptiness arise from space, or from the four directions, intermediate directions, above, or below? If you find the source of arising, it is impossible not to have shape, color, etc., like the sun. Where does it dwell in the middle? Does it dwell in the five external appearances? Or does it dwell in the inner aggregates? If it dwells in the external appearances, then stones, mountains, rocks, etc., will also move, go, and eventually die. If it dwells in the inner aggregates, then where does it dwell from the crown of the head to the soles of the feet? Where does it eventually go? Does the mind also die at the same time as the body dies? Etc., let them analyze separately, and repeat the questions so that they do not fall into a state of being without support or origin. Secondly, the root text says: When you gain experience, self-recognize and self-know awareness, cut through the flaws of the mind in the three aspects of abiding, moving, and awareness. Therefore, as before, without analyzing any physical posture, just let awareness remain in an unfeigned state. Therefore, after one discursive thought, two discursive thoughts arise in a string, like a stream flowing into the ocean, feeling that peace has disappeared. Sometimes it feels like sitting foolishly, but in this state, thoughts arise continuously like a stream, and sometimes they stay for a moment. This is said to be the second experience gained, like a stream in a narrow valley. At that time, instruct like this: Hey, son of a noble family, such a mind sometimes feels abiding, sometimes feels moving, that

Someone asked: The wisdom of dualists cannot be determined, are the three one or are they independent? If they are one, then where are the teachers of abiding and moving? If it is one person, how can there be three forms? The answer is: abiding, moving, and wisdom are one in essence, and this one is beyond all boundaries, indescribable, and cannot be represented by metaphors. When appearing, it is emptiness; when empty, it is luminosity; when luminous, it is without root or foundation, spacious, open, and clear, decisively cut off. At this time, meticulously perform the visualization instructions of Guru Yoga, and then rest slightly in equality. In this state, utter a strong (Tibetan: ཕཊཿ, Sanskrit Devanagari: फट, Sanskrit Romanization: phaṭ, Chinese literal meaning: pa!) sound. Because there is no arising of conceptual thoughts of feeling and no obscurations of antidotes, wisdom naturally manifests, vast and boundless, without reliance, completely liberated, without limitation, impartial, and natural. Therefore, recognize that this is ordinary, natural mind-essence meditation. In most guidebooks, introducing the clear and distinct awareness between past and future conceptual thoughts, which is tightly grasped by memory, is not very good. Similarly, introducing appearance as mind, mind as emptiness, emptiness as union, and union as freedom from elaboration, this kind of pith instruction is widely spread like the wind. However, in the context of the Great Perfection's original purity, it is not good because it is mixed with the faults of views and practices that observe with conceptual thoughts. When Omniscient Longchenpa explained the ultimate intent of the Mind Series, he severely criticized these, and his mind was very vast. The above is the method of gradually descending the points of contemplation, thereby recognizing the nature of mind. From here on, relying on solitude, one can meditate on the key points. If there are deviations in the explanation from the beginning, or if one relies on views from books, then the understanding will become very poor. The third point is, as the root verse says: Through habituation, the truth of tranquility and insight will manifest, and the power of meditation and awareness can be exerted. Therefore, after the previous introduction, rely on solitude, completely cut off the many thoughts of attachment to this life, and meditate single-mindedly. Among them, not choosing abiding and moving, and not taking conceptual thoughts as the path, is its characteristic. However, before abiding is firmly established, if one does this, the power of insight will cause black conceptual thoughts to run rampant, unable to control the winds of karma, unable to recognize the nature of abiding, and wasting life in hesitation.
