Due to the appearance, therefore, in the initial stage, for any arising conceptual thought, just look with wide eyes. In that state, for conceptual thought, do not follow, do not abandon, etc., do nothing, just on the knower itself, maintain your own state and abide, through practicing many short sessions, eventually some cause of conceptual thought is exhausted, becoming like a mute without thought. This is called the third experience, like the three streams of a trident. In reality, from here it is only the cause of accomplishment, and cannot become a condition, and the sharpness of wisdom does not appear, therefore it is not a qualified calm abiding. Then, for a practitioner, one or two moments may not depend on this method, but if it is a gradual method, like reaching the second ladder without climbing the first ladder, this situation is inevitable, therefore in this case, it is not necessary to regard it as an obstacle. At this time, if the experience of abiding becomes blurred and it is thought that meditation has no effect, one should enhance the sharpness of wisdom, and meditate through praising in ways such as uncoverage and coolness. In this way, most of the phenomena of mental afflictions and clinging to concepts and distractions will be calmed down. Wisdom is separated from sinking and agitation, becoming clear and bright and abiding. Without relying on effort and tension, it is easy to practice and wide and relaxed, even when practicing in behavior, slightly praise, the clinging to external appearances disappears, becoming dull and empty, producing various experiences of bliss, clarity, and non-discrimination. And, the appearance of emptiness will definitely appear, and it is said that clairvoyance will also appear, the difference between root and form exists, but in any case, such calm abiding is the cause of producing all the qualities of supreme calm abiding. At that time, no matter what kind of experience of bliss, clarity, and non-discrimination arises, do not cling to it, do not dislike it, through practicing in this way, the skill of insight will arise, thereby liberating abiding and movement simultaneously. Because the nest of meditation exists here, if you cling to the experience of bliss, like pleasure, cling to the experience of clarity, like comfort, cling to non-discrimination, do not want to destroy, etc., then bliss will be reborn in the desire realm, clarity will be reborn in the form realm, non-discrimination will be reborn in the formless realm, and will not go to the path of enlightenment. Similarly, when the skill of insight arises, there will also be the gain of thinking that appearance has not exceeded the scope of the mind, the habit of thinking that appearance and mind are not different, the understanding of thinking that emptiness is like daytime, and the cunning of understanding that has been determined through knowledge, and the key point of insight is to recognize conceptual thought.

Although many wise people in Na say so, it seems a bit off. If liberation is not attained without recognition, then apart from subsequent attainment, it is difficult to transform conceptual thoughts into Dharmakaya, so this is a very important key. Furthermore, if one becomes attached to the devotion that arises from the skill of insight, to compassion, to the essence of emptiness, and to opening the sword of discriminating wisdom, etc., then these will not become the resources for the path, and therefore will not become the cause of omniscience. In short, do not be attached to staying, do not be infatuated with change, and when attachment to objects and subjects is released from the depths of the heart, this is called seeing the truth of the union of Shamatha and Vipassana. In general, in all the great Sutra teachings, many classifications of the self-grasping of Shamatha and Vipassana are taught, but when these are applied to the continuum of a practitioner of meditation, nothing more is needed than what has just been said. All the keys are contained in this alone. In short, in order for meditation to be in the hands of the practitioner and to reach the state of perfect possession of all qualities, it must have four supporting conditions. Being inspired by impermanence to turn away from the depths of the heart from attachment to the laws of samsara, having no attachment even to the slightest thing like a needle and thread in this life, being driven to a secluded place, and being able to stay steadily, this is the cause of intention. Not being deceived by demonic friends, relying on a virtuous guru who possesses all the qualities mentioned in the Sutras and Tantras, or even if not possessing all, possesses most of the excellent qualities, has the blessings of the lineage, and understands the key of the instructions like the eyes, this is the cause of the master. The instructions properly given by that guru, abiding in the essence of the Sugata, the original natural state, not touching either samsara or nirvana but completely pervading, transcending the limits of one and many, the present awareness, the clear and transparent awareness, the unmistaken object of meditation that is free from all artificiality and fabrication in its natural state, this is the cause of the object. Moreover, apart from dedicating one's life to maintaining that state of unartificial, natural expression, free from attachment, do not have thoughts like "I am meditating, I will meditate, I have meditated, it is good if realization arises, it is not good if it does not arise, will I attain accomplishment? Will signs of accomplishment appear?" Do not even have a thought the size of a sesame seed husk, but be in a state of non-distraction and non-meditation.
