Seeing worldly appearances as dreams and illusions, Dwelling in secluded mountain retreats is the Dharma. For my followers, make your leisure and opportunity meaningful. This is the instruction given by Khyentse Özer to the elderly Wangdu, who is devoted to the Dharma and carries a basket of vegetables, at Ömin Dorje Drak. Emaho! The kindness of the incomparable Padmasambhava, And the wisdom dakini, Kharchen Zangmo, As well as the kindness of Vairotsana and Nyangrel Nyima Özer, I contemplate their kindness and feel inadequate. Your melodious voice! In the center of a lotus flower, Spreading a thousand petals of red bodhichitta, Pouring drops of nectar from the three statements. Please listen with clear awareness. Obtaining precious leisure and opportunity is only this once, Like a star in the day and the sun at night, Even if you find something impossible, it is like a bubble and lightning, Extremely illusory and impermanent. If you do not remember that death is certain and impermanent, There will be no arising of Dharma reminders. Therefore, observe the corpses of those who die in the morning and evening, Cherish remembering death at all times. Even if you have abundant wealth and enjoyment, You cannot take anything with you at the time of death. Even the things you cherish like your own heart, Will be enjoyed by enemies, have you not seen? Between this life and the next, There is only the coming and going of breath. Therefore, do not cling to illusory phenomena, Cultivate renunciation in your mind and go to the mountain retreat. The changing of the four seasons of the external climate, The changing of internal enemies, friends, and neutrals, The secret is the three changes of thoughts arising and dissolving, Look, this great drama is unfolding here. Samsara, nirvana, good, and bad are all created by the mind, Happiness and suffering depend on karma. If you cling to external things, you will waste your life, And precious leisure and opportunity will be wasted. The three thoughts of enemies, friends, and neutrals, Create strong attachment and aversion in the face of ordinary people. If practitioners understand the origin of the three realms, They will realize that there is not a single atom of true existence. Since it is uncertain when this life will end, Clinging to permanence is a serious mistake. If you let go of thoughts of happiness, suffering, enemies, and friends, The uncreated ease will be naturally accomplished. Rock caves, self-arisen caves, earthen holes, small huts, etc., The noise of monasteries and temples

In a solitary place, sorrow and renunciation arise naturally. Therefore, the benefits of the borderlands are inconceivable. The pretentious arrogance nourished by the eight worldly concerns, and the attachment to the bonds of worldly pleasures, are messengers leading the path to liberation to hell. Ponder the virtues of the cool waters of the secluded rock. Alas! Today, the clever little child, intensely inspires renunciation, recalling the liberation stories of accomplished predecessors. Regretting the wasted fleeting youth. Now, the degenerate conduct of the degenerate age has entered all beings, so that there is no time to practice Dharma, mostly cultivating the farming of creating evil deeds. Hearing this, thinking about it, the heart is seized by sorrow. Alas! The white-toothed life is fleeting, now nearing death. At the time of death, other than the sacred Dharma, nothing else is beneficial, the heart feels weary. Ah! All my Dharma friends who have faith in me, regard all the good and bad of this life as commonplace. Be happy when sick, be joyful when dying, be content with whatever arises, now go to wander in the forests of the borderlands. The phenomenal world is like a city of gandharvas, the more attached to it, the greater the bondage. In the natural state of non-thought, free from elaboration, primordially liberated, let go, and I know myself that the ultimate wish will be fulfilled. The lord of the teachings, Shakya Singha, and the deity of Tibet, the noble Avalokiteśvara. To the great teacher of incomparable kindness, dedicate body, speech, and mind, and may wishes be fulfilled. That Lama, the source of qualities, the embodiment of the three, the Victorious Ones have praised eight times as the embodiment of all Buddhas. If clear recollection and devotion are present, blessings will enter. When realization is transferred to the mindstream, it is a true transaction. The variegated rocky mountains are majestic and imposing, the tender branches are closely connected like strings of beads, a place where birds and wild animals frolic and play. Go there and meditate on profound samadhi. The essence of the Sugata is pervasive in all, all sentient beings possess the seed of omniscient wisdom. From the back and belly of both awareness and ignorance, there is freedom, now meditate on stainless luminosity! Thus, in the clear radiance of clear awareness, whatever arises should be recorded as it is, as urged by the one named Chandra, written under the cool shade of the Akaniṣṭha tree. May this virtue turn the minds of all beings towards the sacred Dharma.
