For those in whom compassion has arisen, it is not enough to merely meditate on emptiness. One must be free from the mind that clings to emptiness. Even if one realizes the meaning of having nothing to meditate on, if one does not guard it without distraction, one will be obscured by the unprophesied robber and the co-emergent ignorance. In the past, it also obscured the Sugata-garbha. Now, also, because there is no accumulation of merit, may the six dharmas of Kuntuzangpo be kept without separation from their meaning. This was said to Rigdzin Lhundrup. Alas! What is rare in samsara is the human body endowed with leisure and fortune. Have you not seen that from the moment of birth, one is already in the mouth of the Lord of Death? (There is an error between 718 and 716) If you ignore the distinction between what to adopt and what to abandon in terms of cause and effect, have you not seen the suffering of samsara? These various kinds of happiness and suffering, high and low, are caused by oneself, not by chance. The root of Dharma is bodhicitta. All virtuous actions without bodhicitta are great in distraction and small in accomplishment. Do you know that sentient beings are your parents? Always look at your own mind. If you look but do not see, you have no foundation. To look at emptiness by saying "there is nothing" is a great precipice of nihilistic views. Therefore, existence and non-existence, meditation and non-meditation, are all drawings of the mind. Like a louse, grasp the essential point of the natural state without fabrication. In genuine awareness that transcends thought, firmly seize the stronghold of contemplation. If you realize "that is me," then there is no separation between me and you. This was written by Rangjung Dorje for Hor Drak Gowa Jikme Namdrol. Emaho! By relying on whom can temporary and ultimate benefit be perfectly fulfilled? You are the supreme refuge for us. The kind lord who is the life-force of the non-sectarian teachings, I am certain that you will blossom as a fully enlightened Buddha, therefore I prostrate. Even though my ability to unravel the difficult points of the scriptures is weak, may this garland of waves adorned with self-arisen words, drawn by the power of diligence, enjoy the ocean-like expanse that increases the two accumulations like a reservoir of water! Ema, this leisure and fortune which is extremely difficult to find, now arises from pure virtuous causes. If it is carried away by the fleeting breeze of distraction, friend, will you not feel that it has become fruitless chaff? This fragile and easily frightened human body, divided by desire, if it is wasted by meaningless worldly activities, friend, will you not become a meaningless fool who deceives himself? What is certainly true is impermanence and death, even though it is seen with one's own eyes.

In the clear manifestation of form, Whether foe, friend, or neutral, old or young, all are uncertain. Friend, have you contemplated this manner of death? If even the body of the Victorious One, adorned with marks and signs, Shows the aspect of fear, our fragile bodies, Like bubbles, cannot be predicted when they will burst. Friend, do not cling to permanence. The eye of wisdom has not said, That there is anyone born who will not die. We will certainly die, this is certain, But when we will die, there is no fixed time, Friend. There are many things to do tomorrow, things to do later, If tonight they are cut short by impermanent death, Then the provisions that benefit the world, Have they been fully accumulated, friend? Thus, at the time of death, the wealth accumulated, And the assembled relatives, cannot bring praise. What is the need to accumulate so much? In the evident proof, Please look at these, friend. After death, where to be born, there is no autonomy, Carried by the force of karmic winds, one is not in control. If reborn in the lower realms, what can be done? Do you have the confidence not to fall into the lower realms, friend? Even with hard work, the tiring tasks that cannot be completed, The attachment to the phenomena of this life will soon be severed. When will you let go? In this short life of the degenerate age, If you can accomplish it, you are called clever, friend. The days, months, and years obscure the appearance of this life, Meaningless activities exhaust the illusory body. What is done leaves no trace, like a drawing on water, If you understand this, you are called wise, friend. Alas, now in the mouth of this impermanent demon, This little bit of remaining life, If it is spent in various distractions and trifles, It will be too late to regret after death, friend. The inconceivable advice that is beneficial for this, To express in words, in this moment of fear, The profound essence that condenses the essential meaning, Is the single white Dharma, friend. That is, for a moment, visualize on the crown of your head, Meditate on the path of Guhyapati Hevajra, Pray to generate the wisdom of realization, Receive the four empowerments, invite the lama into your heart. Without distraction, gaze intently at this, Pacify bad thoughts, indulgence, and turbulent thoughts, May it descend from the state of bliss, clarity, and non-thought. After that, rays of light emanate from the guru's body, Purify the two obscurations of self and others, and finally all vessels and contents, Like clear crystal, dissolve into clear light. In the state of unspeakable, unthinkable...
