In the intermediate state, it is said: The qualities, both existent and nonexistent, of a person who has realized thus are beyond comprehension. The wisdom that abides in oneness is the great teacher who reveals himself. The uncreated, innate radiance abides within oneself. From the nature of skillful means and wisdom, the Buddha lineage also appears as two. All of these appear as his retinue. Because the ground appearance is without inherent existence, it appears as the Dharma that is beyond speech, thought, and expression. Even in the equality of the three times, all of these have always abided within themselves. Thus it is. Such a person, the signs of being the last existence, also arise from that very nature: For whom the unborn, who could sever from the root? Such signs will also arise for that person. Whoever possesses these signs is equal in fortune to me. On the body, insects, lice, and so on, the continuity of the birth of all these is cut off. For whom hair and nails, all these do not grow, the continuity is exhausted, this is the unborn. Having these signs thus, even in three months' time, this naturally clears in the elements. Without the appearance of the contaminated aggregates, one's own body transforms into a mandala of light, together with the retinue. Thus it is. Even so, without the extraordinary signs of complete abandonment and realization, merely from the changes of the arising and ceasing of wind and mind, or from gaining a little stability of mind within, or from holding onto the signs of accomplishment blessed by evil demons, thinking that one has attained accomplishment, and with the meaning that I have witnessed the true nature of reality, there is no need to hope for action, from now on, not wearing a hat on the head, etc., such great lies deceive oneself and others. This is because those who mistakenly think they have realized have not been liberated from the view and practice of conceptual mind, and are still in the lifeline of samsara. Thus, without possessing signs, if one claims to have entered into the confidence of self-appearance, whoever accepts this is the view of conceptual minds. Likewise, those who practice conceptual mind, all these cannot be liberated, this power is completely lacking, this person will also abide in samsara for a long time. Thus it is. How does one wander in samsara? The paths of delusion into sentient beings are five: the path of dreams, the path of habitual tendencies, the path of the end of karma, the path of uncertain confusion, and the path of uncertain causes and effects. Thus, the obscurations of the five paths.

Those who have not abandoned their own continuum are tightly bound by the iron chains of karma, afflictions, and actions. They have no other place to turn within the six realms of samsara and are bound here from this day forward. However, one should generate immeasurable sorrow, contemplating those who have not yet escaped from these bonds. The signs of their individual rebirths, during the burning of the corpse: When someone dies, the sky is smoky, dark, and black. Likewise, rain and mist, wind, hail, and whirlwinds. To whomever these appear, that is the birthplace of hell. There is no bardo here, O Dakini, it will surely transform. The sky is like fog, the light is yellow, the sun and moon disappear. There is no wind or hail, hail falls and the sun is not visible, or there are traces of rain, and it falls in the evening. To whomever this appears, that is the birthplace of the preta. O Dakini, rebirth is certain. The sky is dim and there is no wind, the clouds are dark and boundless, or there is a fog-like appearance, dim and unpleasant. Whoever has created the actions of life, this is the place of animals. Extremely fierce and agitated by the wind, the clouds are like black charcoal, a terrifying form, extremely agitated and with coming and going, thunder and lightning flashing tongues, the sun and moon cannot appear. To whomever this appears, this is the birthplace of the Asuras. The sky is clear and bright, the light of the sun and moon is clear, wind and hail cannot rise. This is the birthplace of the Devas. Or the sky is clear and bright, indistinguishable clouds like white silk, extremely thin like threads, or there are halos around the sun and moon. To whomever this appears, this obtains the birthplace of humans. Thus, whoever possesses these signs is certainly determined to be in the six realms. If these are not the signs of such actions, then there is no certainty. Thus, these signs appear within two to three days. These are all signs of birth in that birthplace. Thus, if these are not the signs of such actions, then the signs are not certain. Thus it is said, existing in the continuum of the great elements violently shaking, and caused by the wrath of non-humans such as great winds and hail, beings
