The way to combine with the base. In short, superior faculties transform bad thoughts into Dharmakaya. If good and bad are equal, there is no need to rely on antidotes. Medium faculties, through familiarizing themselves with the path of union of clarity and emptiness, all good and bad thoughts dissolve into the expanse. Inferior faculties first seek calm abiding alone. Having gained stability in whatever they focus on, if they become accustomed to the wisdom of insight that distinguishes individually, eventually, just as one cannot find earth and stones on Golden Island, whatever thoughts of mind and mental events arise, appearance and mind are inseparable, appearing as great primordial liberation. That is, for those of superior faculties, awareness becomes firm, and no matter how many illusions of samsara arise, such as thoughts and afflictions, at the very moment they arise, the pure Dharmakaya is liberated, so the good does not add benefit, and the bad does not cause harm, so there is no need to rely on antidotes, because the awareness has never been lost to objects, arising and liberation are simultaneous, because from self-arising, there is no birth, so there is no cessation, there is no grasping, so there is natural liberation. As the Kunjed Gyalpo says: 'As it is, without contrivance, in the intention of the Victorious Ones, whatever thoughts of mind and mental events arise, knowing that they abide in the unborn state, one is free from all notions of action and signs.' For those of medium faculties, by practicing without losing the state of realizing the view of non-arising, free from dullness and agitation, the samadhi of union of calm abiding and insight, in a space-like realm, all the elaborations of mind and mental events disappear like clouds dissolving. As the Samadhiraja Sutra says: 'Just as the sky is slightly without clouds, in an instant a circle of clouds appears, having arisen, it disappears, there is no circle of clouds, one should examine from where it first arose, know all phenomena in the same way.' The difference between sinking and dullness is: sinking is close to the obscured, unindicated, while dullness belongs to ignorance, so the teacher Asanga also distinguished them in the Hearer's Ground. Inferior faculties are those whose minds are distracted and undisciplined, like monkeys, blown by the wind, not allowing even a moment of rest, so one needs to cultivate diligence. As the Kunjed Gyalpo says: 'Purity of two and non-two, cultivate'

and not meditating is also called a name. Thus it is said. That is, focusing the mind closely on the object of focus, like a candle not moved by the wind, the single-pointed knowledge of calm abiding is meditation. As it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Focus the mind on the object of focus, do not let it continuously wander." And as it is said in the Sutra of Perfect Samadhi: "If the mind is placed on the nature of things as they are, without clinging to names, it transforms into experience, therefore it is called meditation." Thus it is said. Having gained stability on the object of focus of calm abiding, one trains in insight, which is the profound understanding of the nature of reality, peaceful, free from all elaboration, naturally luminous, and the emptiness like the nectar of one's own self-aware wisdom. As it is said in the Questions of Maitreya: "Having accomplished calm abiding, one should train in insight." Thus it is said. Its characteristics are also as stated in the Heap of Jewels: "O Protector of Light, what is the wisdom of discriminating awareness of all phenomena? It is the diligence of thoroughly searching the mind." Thus it is said. Thus, contemplating the unborn state of the nature of mind, all appearances that arise through power or delusion, which have never existed in the appearance of duality, but merely appear as labels, are not liberated in their own nature, but are projected onto external objects. The deluded appearances, accustomed to grasping at objects, merely increase in strength, and with the fault of not being established by nature, are recognized by the sharp wisdom of discriminating awareness, as it is said in the Sutra of the Treasury of Space: "By one phenomenon, all phenomena are known to be like illusion and mirage, ungraspable and without accumulation, false and unreal, if one thus follows and awakens, one will soon enter the heart of enlightenment." Thus it is said. The qualities of the state of having become accustomed to calm abiding and insight are also as stated in the Noble Cloud of Jewels: "Calm abiding suppresses the afflictions, insight completely purifies the afflictions." Thus it is said. Thus, due to being accustomed to the wisdom of insight, the discriminating awareness, the realm of distraction arises as the nature of reality, like not finding earth and stones in the Golden Land, whatever thoughts of mind and mental events arise, in the meditation of self-abiding awareness, there is no need for abandonment or antidote, appearances and mind are inseparable, primordially liberated.
