Ah! Likewise, the eyes look at the sky, with the posture of an elephant, placing unconsciousness as a great expansion. Thus, placing awareness in the sky. Without separating from this, the yogi continuously practices, expanding appearances during the day. At night, in one's own dwelling, in order to measure the equality of the four times, withdrawing the doors of the senses, on the lamp of the empty bindu, the yogi abides the mind, and as the bindu increases, so too does awareness increase. Likewise, when the bindu becomes small, the bindu becomes smaller and smaller, and awareness is placed smaller and smaller. With the key of sleep and dreams, eliminate the habitual tendencies of previous attachments from the root. Like this, during all the times of the night, the one with yogic fortune practices, which will cause appearances to naturally increase. Thus it is said. Furthermore, in all cases, among the four methods of abiding, the first unwavering abiding, which is like the ocean abiding, is: Just as in an ocean not stirred by the wind, stars and planets appear to be scattered, but the stars and planets do not stain the water, and the stars and planets do not move from their own positions, likewise, awareness is placed in emptiness, without an object. The functions of the senses do not cease, but do not turn to the conceptualizations of consciousness. Each knows individually, but there is no discriminating consciousness. The objects of appearance do not diminish, but categories cannot be determined, therefore, from what was said before: The doors of the senses are clear, without the conceptualizations of consciousness. Thus it is said. Furthermore, the nature of that state does not abide in anything, but emptiness is not taken as separate. The nature is free from action and effort, but does not fall into indifferent numbness. The manifestation of power does not cease, but the object of attachment has disappeared. From the absence of letters: The intention of the ocean-like abiding is: It is not appearance, nor does it cause appearance. It is not emptiness, nor does it exist in emptiness. It is not clarity, but the realm of great clarity. It is not sinking, nor is there naturally non-existent distraction. It does not move, does not move, does not change, does not move, does not move, transcending all movement. Not clinging to the direction pointing to the object, just as stars rise in the depths of the ocean. Without clinging, clear and unceasing, the way of abiding of intention is like that. Thus it is said. The second is awareness abiding: After awareness is recognized, the way of liberation of the senses all at once, it is impossible for there to be a philosophical tenet of consciousness, without attachment.

The experience of the taste of the very nature of reality exhausts the support for reversion in the three realms. As it says in the Uttaratantra: "The meaning of the holy is freedom from mind; When one is liberated all at once in the beginning; When one's own established conclusion collapses; Without attachment or grasping to anything; Having tasted the true nature of reality; Without support for reversion in the three realms; Just as space dissolves into space itself; The supreme yogin is also like that." Therefore, since awareness itself has its own natural samadhi, there is no need to closely accomplish the artificiality of bliss, clarity, and non-thought. Since the primordially pure awareness is thorough and without any fixation, there is no need to do or fabricate anything with later mental clinging. Therefore, the view of self-liberation, vast and without boundaries or inside and outside, is placed in its own natural state. Moreover, if it is connected with Tögal, the radiance of awareness dawns like a stream of light, and higher vision and multiple experiences are taken into practice as one taste. From the Wordless Scripture: "Awareness, just as it is, is the essential instruction; This is the secret essence." And: "The view of appearance as a single certainty is; Seeking the way to settle awareness itself; This is the great secret of secrets; Liberating others by the power of appearance; Not bound by attachment, it is self-arisen appearance." Third, appearance just as it is: The clarity of awareness, like a mirror, is the basis for all appearances, so even if it is blocked, it cannot be blocked, because it is the power of unceasingness. Even if it is practiced, it will not be accomplished, because it will naturally return to the unborn. Therefore, one does not deliberately gather things that are known and appear to be measured, nor does one block them with antidotes, nor does one withdraw them into their own place, but rather leaves them just as they are, so that one cannot transcend the state of the nature of reality. In The Heap of Jewels it says: "When phenomena appear as characteristics; I have self-arisen qualities; I do not accept or reject this." And in the Wordless Scripture it says: "Vajrasattva's awareness, just as it is; Shows all the appearances of the Dharmakaya; Since pure wisdom's appearances appear just as they are; The secret way of settling is in the state of settling just as it is; The appearances of the Kayas do not abandon the five elements; It is not abandonment, but rest in its own meaning." The meaning of this approach is to practice the inseparability of appearance and awareness as one taste. If one does not understand this and simply stares at whatever arises, it is said that awareness is possessed by the demon of external objects, which is to mistake conceptual thought for reality, not understanding the key point of self-nature.
