It is the object of fundamental ignorance. So it is said. Therefore, these two must be well distinguished. In the "Six Spaces" it is also said: If the Alaya and the Dharmakaya are not distinguished, it is like a knowledge that grasps one form as different, and the meanings cannot appear separately. So it is said. Among them, the characteristics of the Dharmakaya are: the essence of emptiness-wisdom is its essence, the essence of clarity-light is its essence, and the essence of compassion-uninterrupted awareness is its essence. Therefore, it has cut off the root of mind and ignorance, and has transcended the practice of the stages and paths. As it is said in "Self-Arisen": The palace of the Dharmakaya is immutable, and dwells clearly in the center of each citta. Emptiness-wisdom is its essence, clarity-light is its essence, self-arisen awareness is its essence, the Dharmakaya possesses three essences, and the meaning of wisdom is realized, there is no path to traverse. The limits of expression are cut off, this great Dharmakaya dwells in all, but all cannot realize it. No mind, no thought, no ignorance or delusion. So it is said. Moreover, the Dharmakaya is symbolized by the door of words, as well as the Bodhicitta, as well as the self-arisen wisdom, and the symbol of the spontaneously accomplished great expanse, but that which can be interpreted is itself conceptual thought, so its own nature is inexpressible, beyond mind, free from elaboration, and appears as the sole and unique. Therefore, the abiding of the Dharmakaya is called the Great Perfection. It is not like the Yogacara-Cittamatrins who do not acknowledge self-knowing and self-illumination, nor is it like the Madhyamikas who measure the limits with mind and use emptiness like space as the basis for calculation. And because there is no outer, inner, or three times, it is not established as the mind of ordinary beings, and because there is no self or other, it is not established as one's own awareness like the eternalist views of the Tirthikas. And although there has never been a grasper or grasped, it is not established as a state of being separated from the two knowledges like the cessation of absorption. And although it is not in the realm of feeling and awareness, it does not abide as an obstacle to Vipassana. And although there is no mind or mental events, it is not established as an unmentioned mind like the four alternatives of origination. And because there is no clarity or non-clarity, it is not established as the self-illumination of the Alaya-consciousness. And because it transcends awareness and non-awareness, awareness is merely established as an appearance on the path, thereby purifying the obscurations of knowledge, but it is the nature of the great wisdom of the nature of no-self. As it is said in the Sutra of the Unmoving Nature of Reality: The Dharma

Everything is unborn by its very nature. The essence itself is immutable, free from the limits of action, and beyond the realm of elaboration. From the very beginning, it is equality itself. Thus it is said. Although it is so, it is not easy to realize its characteristics, so one must understand the principle of great errors arising on the same basis. In the Dzogchen Wisdom Sky Equality Tantra, it says: "The eternal and steadfast of the heretics, and the unchanging Dharmakaya of Dzogchen, are similar and mistaken. Therefore, cut off the inner additions. Ordinary common people, and the open and doorless Dzogchen, are similar and mistaken. Therefore, one must change the views of the sect. Also, Vajrasattva, listen, the self-knowing and self-illuminating of Cittamātra, and the clear awareness of Dharmakaya, are similar and mistaken. Therefore, one must distinguish the Alaya consciousness. The three common empowerments, and the two special and superior empowerments, are similar and mistaken. Therefore, the three primordial Dzogchen empowerments are needed. The Madhyamaka free from elaboration, and the Dzogchen without error or obstruction, are similar and mistaken. Therefore, one must not touch samsara and nirvana. The abiding nature of the self-born essence, and the initial awareness that is not prophesied, are similar and mistaken. Therefore, one must determine the beginning and the end. The initial bardo of samsara and nirvana, and the final bardo of existence, are similar and mistaken. Therefore, the great Dharmakaya is needed. The basis of consciousness without mental fabrication in meditation, and the Vipassanā awareness of Dzogchen, are similar and mistaken. Therefore, one needs the oral instructions that can overcome adverse conditions." Thus it is said. Furthermore, in order to prevent the nature of reality from being confused, the principle of establishing it from the three aspects of essence, classification, and definition. In the Madhyamaka-avatara it says: "The Dharmakaya is free from elaboration, and has no characteristics of self-grasping. In the essence of emptiness and clarity without distinction, the classification of the three bodies of Dharma, Enjoyment, and Emanation, are distinguished by the three, and there is a difference. The definition of Dharma is the true path, and the body is accomplished from it." Thus it is said. Among them, the essence is also established with three characteristics from the perspective of abiding on the basis of the original purity, and from the perspective of abiding on the realm of delusion, analyzing its resonance, with the experience and part of realizing the mind's natural freedom from elaboration, the initial establishment of self.
