Not holding onto appearances as ornaments like the expanse, but in the nature of awareness, in suchness, the self-nature of phenomena being empty and the nature of reality being empty of other-nature, the philosophical tenets of the mind, and all speculative views are unable to stand, self-liberating and dissolving without remainder, ala la! Though the appearance of objects does not cease in the face of awareness, awareness does not mix with objects, so the nature of grasping and being grasped, of samsara, is like a drawing on water, spontaneously liberated from rejection and acceptance, Saraha rejoices. In the face of awareness that has not strayed onto objects, attachment and aversion, affirmation and negation are not apparent, in the state of liberation from samsara and nirvana, the Indian saint Yu Care. When awareness is accomplished as the Dharmakaya, there is no logical proof of phenomena, so in the great wisdom free from extremes, it is thoroughly unobstructed. Since conceptual thought is liberated into awareness, the false foundation of view, meditation, conduct, and result collapses, and although one is not burdened by rituals and religious practices, one cannot be separated from the non-elaborate nature of reality, the mind of enlightenment, so the key point of the Dharma has been grasped. As it is said in the Engaging in Bodhisattva Deeds: Although it is meditation that always belongs to cessation, compassion arises especially for beings who have no protector. So it is. Although one has transcended the suffering of the eight worldly concerns, one does not relax one's respect for the Three Jewels and the law of karma, so one comes for the sake of sentient beings. Although one is awakened from hope and fear, one fears attachment and aversion because one has the shame and embarrassment. Although one has not studied terminology and philosophical systems, one understands all dharmas through one's own awareness, so there is no pride or competitiveness. Although one is not afraid of the refutation and establishment of others, knowing the intellectual capacity of philosophical systems, one has no partiality towards the Dharma and the measure of individuals. Although there is no cultivation or meditation on equipoise, there is a portion of awareness in the subsequent attainment, so one spends one's life in the mountains, repeating it in this way. As the Lion's Perfect Strength says: For the king of self-appearing means, the awareness of power is uninterrupted, so ask your own wisdom. The samadhi without an object, ask in the state of being free from effort. The mind of clear, beginningless objects, ask in the pure realm of reality. This is shown as the meaning of intention. Likewise, the base and the Dharmakaya, although one in the realm, the Dharmakaya is like the ocean. The alaya consciousness of the base is its obscuring part, floating in both samsara and nirvana like a boatman. From that base itself, the nature of delusion and liberation also falls asleep.

I am like waking up from that, like a deep sleep of confusion and weakened senses, liberation is also like the state of waking up from that. In this regard, in general, both samsara and nirvana are one in the state of basic awareness. As it says in 'Self-Arising,' "The basis of sentient beings and the basis of the Buddhas, it is certain that they are distinguished by one difference." How are they distinguished? The spontaneously accomplished play of energy, not liberated on the level of awareness, but transformed into other-dependence, becoming the nature of mind and mental events, like an opened silk brocade, is the basis of many appearances. It is the initial appearance of all the habitual tendencies of the three realms, the action in between, and the final container, therefore it is called the ālaya. As it says in 'Self-Arising,' "The ālaya holds onto conceptual thoughts, it is deceived by various confused knowledges, the ālaya is an object of ignorance, therefore it is called the basis of all." Among them, "all" is a plural word, and "basis" exists as the support of various collections. The dharmakāya has not become other-dependent on ignorance, and since it transcends mind and mental events, it is not a container for various objects, nor does it exist together with the mind, etc., which holds onto the 'I' in relation to objects, and since it is not defiled by the thought of actions and habitual tendencies, it transcends the continuum of memory. As it says in 'A Rosary of Pearls,' "The dharmakāya is the exhaustion of outflows, empty and clear, clear and pervasive, not defiled by thought, clear memory, separated from the very nature of elaboration, pervasive and empty like the sky, completely separated from the symbols of self-purity." That is to say, if we distinguish from the perspective of support and supported, the ālaya is the support, the mind is the supported, the dharmakāya is the support, and wisdom is the supported. As it says in 'The Six Spaces,' "Alas! Great bodhisattva, the place of mind is the ālaya. Why is that? Because the ālaya gathers all objects of thought, and it is known as mind. The place of wisdom is the dharmakāya. Why is that? Because the dharmakāya does not possess all thoughts and concepts, and it does not have the knowledge that grasps different objects." If we distinguish from the perspective of examples, it is like a ship floating on the ocean. Like this, the dharmakāya is the originally pure, free from elaboration, awareness that is not established in any nature, although the opportunity for various appearances is not obstructed, it is like a clear ocean because it is free from temporary stains. What becomes the obscuration of that dharmakāya is the aspect of awareness of the spontaneously accomplished play of energy.
