Thus it is. As for the outer circle: In essence, since afflictions are not established, the five poisons are transformed into the path. In nature, since there is no effort or striving, whatever appears is the adornment of dharmata. In characteristic, since there is no error, dharmata is not divided into anything. As for the inner circle: In essence, since it transcends form, dharmata does not fall into partiality. In nature, since there is no going or coming, it is the constant, continuous wisdom. In characteristic, since it abides in both samsara and nirvana, it arises like a root. Since its own essence is distinct and intertwined, it is like a trunk. Since its power and appearance expand in every way, it is like branches. Since its clarity never ceases, it is like a flower. Since its variety ripens into one, it is like a fruit. As for the secret circle: In essence, since it is known all at once, it does not depend on the three wisdoms. In nature, since it is liberated at the moment of death, it is free from dependence on the bardo. In characteristic, since it is primordially liberated, it transcends the pull of the two accumulations. Furthermore, as for the utterly secret and supreme: In essence, since it is not an object of knowledge, it does not depend on words and terms. In nature, since it is seen directly, dharmata does not abide in mental fabrication. In characteristic, since it is the four visions, the three perfect kayas arise as the path vision, and without waiting for a future result, one is united with the primordial ground in this very life. Thus, the secret meaning of the three classes of Dzogchen, the Lazi of the expanse of the ground, has been directly explained. If all three are combined, they are included in the nine spaces: Since the view is free from elaboration, it is the space of essence without change. Since the meditation is natural and relaxed, it is the space without judgment or discrimination. Since the result is perfectly accomplished, it is the space without initial hope or fear. Since the essence is without permanence or annihilation, it is the space without the establishment or rejection of the knowable. Since the nature is without logical proof, it is the space of dharmata without cessation. Since the characteristic is without entanglement, it is the space of liberation from appearance and mind. Since the expanse is without the three times, it is the space without change. Since the play manifests in every way, it is the space of unceasing self-arising. Since the spontaneous equality is without partiality, it is the space of primordial liberation, spontaneously present. Thus, it is included in the nine spaces. And these, in terms of summarizing the meaning, are the collections of the manifest; in terms of summarizing the words, they abide in sixty-four million shlokas, and the way of collecting the definite expressions of chapters, volumes, etc., comes from the Refutation. In the Great Perfection of Nature, the distinctions of words are scattered, in the three classes.
