Like a rainbow in the sky, It naturally dissolves into the sky itself. In the realm of great non-discrimination, All attachments pass into peace. This too is a precious quality, Such a way of qualities arising. Wisdom itself into wisdom itself, By self-absorption into its own essence, The grasping thoughts and recollections of consciousness, In the realm of self-abiding equanimity, All duality passes into peace. The appearances of individual wisdoms, In the center of the realm of non-action, Pass into peace without ceasing. By that itself self-absorbing into itself, All the various plays of wisdom, Dissolve into their own original state, Like a child entering its mother's lap. Trust in your own wisdom, Your own nature passes into peace. This too is a precious quality, Also, the way qualities dissolve. Body itself self-absorbing into body, All forms, in great non-thought, Pass into peace without appearance. The elements gathered by the gross, And the ignorance, etc., grasped by the subtle, Pass into peace without differentiation. By the bodies dissolving into their own essence, The arising elements of consciousness do not go outward. Like the form of a vase, The clarity within, the outward flow, Abide in their place without inherent existence. This too is a precious quality, Also, such a quality as this. Two-without, two-without, self-absorbing, The clinging to enumeration, In the realm of the single, free from elaboration, Even in the manner of two becoming one, Passes into peace in self-absorption. The appearance of duality self-absorbs, Like a river into a river, Dissolving without distinction, Into the great non-duality, it passes into peace. This too is a precious quality, Such an unceasing quality. Liberation from extremes is liberation from extremes, By self-absorption into its own essence, The self-continuum that grasps the three bodies, All bodies are exhausted and pass into peace. The two extremes self-purify and self-absorb, Like the sky into the sky, Dissolving without being grasped. The thoughts and attachments of the four extremes self-cease, And pass into peace in the great non-abiding. This too is a precious quality, Such a quality of appearance. The door of self-entry into impure samsara, Into the door of purity by its very nature, Dissolves in a manner without going anywhere. Like the tent ropes, Gathering themselves in the center by being pliable, The sphere of the senses passes into peace. This is a precious quality, One who has perfected the qualities in this way, The very nature of pure wisdom

Oṃ! By self-absorption into the essence, body and wisdom pass into nirvana. Just as a lion seizes a snow mountain, one gains irreversible, fearless confidence. This too is a precious quality. The way in which such qualities arise is that the place of wisdom, abiding in oneness, is found without searching, for that is its nature from the beginning. So it is said. In general, if you do not know how the ground abides, you do not understand the tenets of Dzogchen. Its key lies in the three spontaneously present spheres, so its manner is an extremely difficult place to understand. Even when this teaching was most widespread in the past, if the tenets were not fully comprehended, then nowadays the Dzogchen teaching is only a mere image, what need is there to say more? Therefore, what is set forth here is also known from the Dharmachakra of Samantabhadra's direct perception, that is, in the supreme precious vehicle: This manner is the difficult place of the secret heart essence. Although it is clearly stated in the tantras and instructions, in Tibet in the past there has not been anyone who could elicit it. Therefore, I have explained it very clearly, and in the future, if this place is understood, it should be understood through the power of this letter. So it is said. Now, the way in which Samantabhadra is liberated from that ground is: At that time, in the instant of seeing the ground appearance, the first Buddha, Samantabhadra, did not spread the appearance into delusion, but the self-appearance, with awareness surpassing the ground of non-indication. With the wisdom of the ground itself ripening into fruit, in a single instant, distinctions are thoroughly separated. Upon separating, wisdom itself also ripens into body, abiding in its own place without relying on other arising conditions. In the nature of the ocean of body and wisdom, in a single instant, one manifestly attains enlightenment. Thereupon, from the primordial expanse, the spontaneously present inner radiance radiates outward, and from the moment the compassion of awareness begins to revert into the rain of ignorance, the Dharmata of awareness, Samantabhadra, knowing that self-appearance is without self-nature, the continuum of conceptual thought is cut off. The way in which the ground appearance, the spontaneously present appearance, arises, also reverts in the state of no-self-nature, and in the future, the primordially pure, which does not delude, dissolves into the ground, and one becomes enlightened as the teacher who precedes all Buddhas, that is, in the Sound Tantra it says: Thus, at the beginning and end of samsara and nirvana, the Buddha has not become deluded, by the sovereign who surpasses the ground, self-appearance is without self-nature.
