I cannot find "I." Self-originated, primordially without artifice. If sought with discernment, "I" is not seen. The Dharmakaya is primordially without extremes. If viewed with observation, "I" is not seen. Mind is connected with intellect, therefore it severs the elaborations of the four extremes, and along with holding the view of such severance as supreme, it leaves the essence unperceived, stagnating and ignorant like a pool of water. By cultivating skill in conceptual analysis, practice is divided into two parts, and by establishing the cause and effect of the object of observation and the observer, it harms the lamp of awareness that has self-grasping duality. As it says in the Klong Drugpa: View is the impurity of mind. In the stainless, pure nature of reality, There is no object of observation or observer. View itself has nothing to observe. Why is it that if there is view, The lamp of awareness will disappear? Therefore, in Dzogchen Ati, There is no nature of holding to view. In Dzogchen Ati Yoga, It is said that there is no fruit to be attained. The fruit is unmade, self-originated. In the ground of non-conceptuality, the Thus-Gone dwells. Moreover, awareness is like the moon in the empty sky; even though the clear, intrinsic light is not diminished even slightly, the display of wisdom does not fall into the byways of mental consciousness, and therefore it is called the self-cognizant wisdom of one's own awareness. As it says in the Praise to the Mother of Rahula: The Prajnaparamita, inexpressible, unthinkable, unutterable, Unborn, unceasing, the very nature of space, The sphere of activity of self-cognizant wisdom. Mind is like the light of the fifteenth day moon mixed with the appearance of objects; that is, in the sphere of memory and thought, the knowledge that discriminates arises, mixed with the objects of the five senses, it is the close taking of mental factors. As it says in Tsal Dzog: Mind and wisdom are not the substance of habit. Even though wisdom is separated from all habits, Mind accumulates various habits. If mind and wisdom are not distinguished, The root of the appearance of objects Cannot be severed, and even if the nature of reality free from conditions is pure, it is difficult to realize. Furthermore, mind is the follower of awareness, but awareness does not follow mind, therefore it is not under the control of mind. Some say that since conceptual analysis can be the object of those who see the truth, therefore conceptual analysis is knowable. This explanation is merely looking outward, just empty talk that is not tainted by one's own experience.

Here, in the aspect of non-conceptualizing the objects of self-originated wisdom, the self-abiding awareness is spontaneously present. Moreover, although the clarity of awareness is not of a different kind and its luminosity is uninterrupted, it does not conceptualize, analyze, or grasp the nature of objects. In its own face, the appearance of objects is like the reflection in a mirror, and the fact that self-characteristics do not arise within the objects, but are of one substance and one essence, is a quality of awareness. The consciousness that arises towards objects is the mind of samsara, and because it cannot transcend the aspect of grasper and grasped, the quiescence that focuses single-pointedly on an empty object, and the insight that analyzes it, no matter what term of union or non-union is applied to them, they do not surpass worldly meditation because they closely enjoy the object of grasping. Therefore, if awareness is recognized directly and one knows how to relax in it, the adventitious stains of the mind, not established in the nature of awareness, will purify themselves without a trace and will not be stained by habitual patterns. As it says in Self-Arisen: The appearance of awareness itself transcends the extremes of permanence and annihilation. The inexpressible, perfectly pure Dharma transcends the extremes of being and non-being. The absence of negation and affirmation transcends the extremes of grasping and attachment. Immaculate, luminous, spontaneously accomplished. And in the All-Creating King Tantra: Because self-originated wisdom does not conceptualize objects, it is not stained by the habitual patterns of conceptualization. Likewise, awareness abiding in itself is wisdom, independent of the means of meditation, free from sinking and excitement. The mind is single-pointedly focused on the object of focus, and is therefore connected to samadhi and the supported and the supporter. Although awareness arises towards objects, it is not overcome by appearances, like mercury falling on the ground. The mind is with the aspect of grasper and grasped, mixed with the side of taking up conceptualization. Although awareness does not abandon the mind to another place, mind and awareness do not coincide, and afflictions, which are of the same substance as objects and appearances, self and essence, also combine and flee. Thus, the wisdom of awareness abiding in itself is a special insight, so although the appearance of objects does not cease in the face of awareness, awareness itself does not fall onto appearances. It does not depend on the means of restraining the mind in meditation, and because it is not restrained in this way, awareness has power over all states of abiding and moving, so there is no disturbance of sinking and excitement.
