Therefore, one liberates oneself with self-liberation. Because self-nature is naturally self-liberated, Just as iron is used to cut iron, And stone is used to break stone. Oneself is the greatest antidote for oneself. Through realizing the self-nature of Dzogchen, Whatever one becomes accustomed to in this way, One finds the meaning of abiding without searching. Without meditation, great bliss increases, One directly knows in self-nature. Whoever encounters this, Even if they possess the five heinous crimes, Through familiarizing themselves with this, they will be liberated, Without any doubt, they will reach Naraka (Tibetan, Devanagari Sanskrit, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning). Secondly, in the "String of Pearls," it says: "For unobstructed awareness, There is no cause for delusion, so there is no turning back. Because it is primordially liberated, it is completely transcendent. Because it is self-liberated, the conditions of objects are exhausted. Because it is immediately liberated, appearances are purified. Because it is liberated at the edge, the four extremes cease. Because it is one liberation, the many are emptied." Thus, five categories are explained. Among them, the characteristic of the first, primordial liberation, is that even in the midst of the five aggregates and the eight consciousnesses' grasping, which is like a cloud, the characteristic of awareness is like the sky, without self-nature. Therefore, one completely abandons the burden of constantly combining in samsara. Because it is free from the elaboration of self, it exists in primordial liberation without any effort or fabrication, not depending on effort or antidotes. As the "String of Pearls" says: "It is not liberated through effort, But abides in liberation from the very beginning." And "Effort is Meaningful" says: "The mind itself, primordially liberated, How could there be a cause for later liberation?" If someone asks, then how do sentient beings wander in samsara? O you, with a beautiful face, sharp intellect, and cleverness, listen: The three doors (body, speech, and mind) are naturally liberated, but they are bound. The known is grasped as an external object, the rope is grasped as an appearance, and in the state of mistaking it for a snake, one analyzes the color and shape of the external object, which is form. Knowing the characteristic of its harm is feeling. The continuous stream of knowledge that relates these things before and after is perception. Not being liberated from the concept of grasping the snake is volition. The master of all these is the cause, which is the alaya consciousness, including the afflicted mind and manas, from the collection of which the dharma nature of awareness, primordially liberated, nothing is established. To this, one clings to "I" and "mine," grasping the empty form of illusion as real. The three realms have never existed from the beginning, but they suddenly appear to you, who have vast knowledge. As it says in the "Prajnaparamita Sutra": "All these various appearances, Are like seeing a snake on a rope."

It is like that. If one clings to what is not that, then the outer and inner containers and contents are formed. Thus it is said. Therefore, the awareness of original liberation, without entrusting it to the winds that take hold of the five senses, but rather not exceeding the state of naturally relaxed abiding, namely: The five elements themselves are primordially pure, appearances are liberated as luminosity. The five senses themselves are naturally abiding, the five objects of grasping are self-liberated. Thus it is said. In the consequentialist, the ultimate nature of great perfection, all phenomena are placed in their own place, appearance and awareness, the nature of reality, are united, original liberation is at the point of immediate abiding. The intention is beyond the intellect, the characterized is purified in its own place, the extremes of emptiness and entity are liberated, movement ceases, there is no conceptualization, the intellect ceases, it is beyond the mind. Thus it is said. Moreover, the essence of awareness is primordially empty, rootless, independent, beyond relativity, without cause and effect, without trace, like the sky. Therefore, from its state, no matter how appearances arise through its power, it is only the self-nature of non-existence and emptiness that is allowed to be clear in the self-liberation without distinction, and it has never been transformed into other transformations. It is like repeating. That is: Self-mind liberation is called, not going from one place to another. The mind that has no liberation, is complete from the beginning, there is no coming and going. It cannot be found by examination, there is no reason. Without root, emptiness and clarity abide. That mind that abides in self-clarity, is liberated by the key point, without bias. Liberated by time, without dependence. Liberated without effort, without diligence. Liberated by confidence, without effort. Here it is said to be liberated by confidence. Primordially liberated, there is no basis for repetition. Self-liberated, there is no antidote. Naturally liberated, it disappears in the place of seeing. Completely liberated, without effort. Thus it is said. Second, the characteristic of self-liberation is, the meaning of not depending on an antidote. In the mind section it is said: Liberation arises naturally, not from elsewhere. Thus it is said. All phenomena of appearance and sound arise from themselves, self-liberation is like water and bubbles. Like this, for the self-liberation that has already been established in oneself, the way of abiding of the meaning nature that transcends existence and non-existence and permanence and annihilation, if one mixes the grasping of the obscurations of knowledge that cling to the five aggregates as empty, along with the accompanying view and meditation, and the flawed notions of behavior, it will make the calm river slow and still.
