The land teacher is up to the noble ones. Not exhaling refers to hell beings and others who are tormented by suffering and cannot exhale. In short, vowing to make all sentient beings rejoice in the non-abiding nirvana, and also in the "Summit Tantra" it says: Gods and Asuras, secret ones, you should not despise them, hand seals, mounts, weapons, and symbols should not be crossed. Among the three, gods, Asuras, and secret ones, the first two are direct teachings, and the secret one is a Yaksha, who knows the teacher's vows and abides by them, so one should not despise those who protect the teachings. Hand seals generally refer to the four: Dharma seal, Karma seal, Samaya seal, and Mahamudra, none of which should be slandered. In particular, the complete form of the deity is the manifestation. Mounts refer to the teacher's throne and mounts, etc. Weapons refer to swords and mallets, etc., made for the deity's hand implements, and symbols are the symbols of the five families. Furthermore, the shadows of teachers and stupas are also shown as crossing over, which is a form of slander. Similarly, inferior offerings refer to old offerings, flowers, and replaced water offerings, etc., which should not be crossed or eaten. One should not carelessly discard them in places where they are crossed, etc. In any case, if one must pass over places like the shadow of a stupa, one should think of lifting it up with the combined force of the Vajra power activity mantra (藏文:བཛྲ་བེ་ག་ཨ་ཀྲ་མ་ཧཱུྃ།,梵文天城体:वज्र वेग अक्र महा हुं,梵文罗马拟音:vajra vega akra mahā hūṃ,汉语字面意思:Vajra, swift, A, Kra, great, Hum) and passing under it, as the "Summit Tantra" says: Wheels, Vajras, lotuses, etc., whatever hand seal of a symbol, one should not cross over its very self, nor should one eat it. Similarly, inferior offerings and the shadow of the deity, one should not trample with one's feet, one should not sit on it, nor should one place it again. The deity's excellent hand implements, and the symbols of the deity's mounts, etc., one should not cross over and despise them, one should not harm sentient beings. It also says: The deity's body and hand implements, and the deity's mounts, etc., inferior offerings and the deity's shadow, and all the deity's symbols, and various edible things, whatever is made as a symbolic image, one should never trample on them. In particular, killing and taking what is not given, etc., whether directly taught or guided with hidden meaning, if one does not distinguish the difference, the mantra practitioner will fall. In general, in all situations of the Mahayana, straightforwardness, certainty, concealment, and hidden meaning are four...

Therefore, it is not the case that all the meanings of the teachings are to be understood literally, nor is it the case that they are entirely contrary to the literal meaning. For the words of the Tathagata are not entirely subject to the control of sounds and words. Especially in the practice of mantra, if one does not fully understand the difference between merely practicing with faith and the blessings granted to those who have reached the ultimate realization, then practicing literally with a distorted understanding will lead to falling into the lower realms. The great commentary on the *Fifty Verses on the Guru* states: "In the Mantrayana, if others do not understand the words that need to be interpreted, and engage in activities such as killing, or enjoy the property of the Sangha and temples, or cling to the extremes of permanence and annihilation, and become attached to enjoying external objects, then by assuming the guise of a teacher, they will offend the Three Jewels and go to hell." Therefore, in the treatises of the Vajrayana, when revealing hidden secrets, the larger terms should be explained from the perspective of the three secrets of outer, inner, and secret, so as not to contradict the intention of the tantras. And when meanings are inconsistent, they should be explained from the perspective of self-nature, having a hidden meaning, and having a connection between meaning and symbolism, so that they are not contradictory in substance but are harmonious in form. Therefore, dividing a single word into two parts, direct expression and hidden meaning, is also to eliminate contradictions and unify names in the realm of meaning. Here, taking the case of direct expression as an example, for those who have realized the meaning of hidden secrets and the nature of things as they are, when they are under the influence of skillful means and great compassion, the way of practicing literally with the hidden secrets such as "Tana" and "Gana" is also completely grasped by the profound power of skillful means and wisdom, and is purified by the way of transforming the state. However, in the context of the Pratimoksha vows, if one commits the four defeats such as killing, then the four root vows will be broken. And all these non-virtuous friends (referring to bad companions) and the five items including alcohol are used here as the samaya substances of the five families, so there is no reason to classify such contradictory items as having consistent meaning.
