Thus, each of the gross transgressions is shown by two lines of verse, which is easy to understand as this treatise itself explains it. In the Garland of Valid Cognition it says: Scripture is a trustworthy word, because faults are exhausted, there are no false words, and there is no reason to contradict oneself. Therefore, know that the exhaustion of faults is scripture. So, which treatise does it show? I prostrate with complete devotion to the lotus feet of the Guru. I will write down the eight types of gross transgressions, as spoken in the Tantra. Taking with the power of wisdom, and taking with the power of its nectar. Not concealing from those who are not vessels, and quarreling in the assembly, teaching other doctrines to the faithful, staying for seven days in the midst of the Shravakas, with false words the yogi becomes arrogant, teaching the Dharma to those without faith. These are said to be gross transgressions. The order of root transgressions and gross transgressions should be known through rituals, and if there is a fault, it should be confessed. The gross transgressions of the Vajrayana, composed by the master Nagarjuna, are completed. Thus it is. In general, gross transgressions themselves do not lead to the complete loss of vows, but in accordance with the eight major faults that belong to the category of gross transgressions, the footsteps of the hero also say: Any yogi who, towards a consort without vows, also acts with violence, and also ridicules her, this is said to be his first downfall. The order not spoken of in the Tantra, anyone who partakes of nectar, etc., these are similar. Similarly, in the Vajrahṛdayālaṃkāra it says: Relying on a consort without vows, arguing in the Ganachakra, proclaiming the secret Dharma, proclaiming other doctrines to the faithful, dwelling for a long time in the midst of the Shravakas, proclaiming secrets to unworthy vessels, this is a gross" }, { "original_tibetan": "གྱུར་ཏེ། །སྔགས་པ་དེ་ཡི་དམ་སྡོམ་ཟད། །ཟད་", "chinese_translation": "罪,那个咒师的誓言和律仪就耗尽了。 , "english_translation": "transgression, the vows and precepts of that mantra practitioner are exhausted.

Therefore, by way of summarizing, six gross transgressions are established. Furthermore, on the basis of being in accordance with this meaning, adding "Without purifying recitations, etc., engaging in mandala activities, and transgressing the precepts of the two vows without necessity," thus eight gross transgressions are taught. That is, without relying on the recitation of counting, time, or names, without purifying the deity yoga, engaging in mandala activities such as empowerment, consecration, and fire offerings, and gathering disciples; if one possesses the two vows of the Hearers and Bodhisattvas, merely receiving empowerment, one enters into the practice of mantra as it is; and also, after blessing food, the five meats, and the five nectars, being in accordance with the deity yoga, not only showing joy in the assembly circle of enjoying the samaya substances, but also not caring at all about the situation of generating the downfalls of the lower two trainings, unnecessarily transgressing the prescribed boundaries, etc., these are all violating one's own discipline, because practicing mantra with faith, merits increase, but instead become obstacles to attaining accomplishment, therefore, what Laksminkara said in the commentary on the "Collected Vows," should also be examined, and one should mainly focus on actions related to timing. Thus, the fourteen root downfalls of the lineage of the Teacher Hero, along with their retinue, are generally widespread and well-known for the Anuttara Yoga in general, mainly these are discussed, in addition, it does not exclude other definite numbers. Thus, the common fourteen root downfalls of Anuttara Yoga, summarized by Bhavila, are widespread and well-known. In addition, in the respective tenets of the four tantra classes, the definite number of fourteen is clearly stated in the Kalachakra and the General Tantra, Abhisamayalankara, etc. Among them, the fourteen of the Kalachakra lineage are root downfalls, as stated in the "Empowerment Chapter": "By disturbing the mind of the glorious guru, the root downfall of the sons will become the holder of the rabbit (moon). By disobeying his teachings, the downfall will turn into another, certainly so. Similarly, being angry with a brother is the third. Abandoning love will become the fourth, the complete decline of bodhicitta will also become an arrow. The sixth is the limit of accomplishment."
