Having recognized the characteristics of misdeeds, one should learn the conduct of Samantabhadra with a sense of shame. The third is the superior samaya, which comes from the Tantra of the Great Nirvana of Vajrakilaya: Do not kill the lion, the king of beasts. Do not use evil poison in Zamatok. Do not cut the tender branches of precious jewels at the root. Do not drink boiling water from melting glaciers. Do not open the stamens of blooming lotuses. Do not pour essence into containers with holes. Do not mix unchecked wealth and food. Do not throw white crystal balls into the mud. Do not milk lion's milk into inferior containers. Do not burn wish-fulfilling jewels in the fire. Do not break the wings of the Garuda, the king of birds. Do not strike meteoric iron claws on the ground. Do not eat the leftovers of food played with by tigers and leopards. Do not destroy all the rocks blessed by vajras. Do not demolish the walls surrounded by vajra fences. Do not extinguish all the lamps that dispel darkness. Do not cut the ice dams of vajra rivers. Do not give away the seals that are symbols of kings. Do not overturn the foundations of vajra fortresses filled with treasures. Do not deprive the victory banner topped with precious jewels with signs of desire. These, with metaphorical words, abide in the common and special samayas, and especially emphasize guarding on occasions such as large gatherings, therefore they are superior samayas. In order: Do not despise the guru, do not harm the consort, do not interrupt the assembly of believers, do not defile wealth, do not drink intoxicating liquor that causes mental confusion, do not engage in sexual misconduct with the consort of a brother, do not mix bad names, do not rely on the wealth of those possessed by ghosts and those in dispute, do not eat unblessed food, do not abandon bodhicitta, do not teach the Dharma to unworthy vessels, do not abandon disciples who are worthy vessels, do not separate the father and mother deities, combine meaning with bliss and emptiness, do not incite quarrels among Dharma brothers and sisters, do not consume the remaining filth of others, do not desecrate the guru's seat, do not break the boundaries of oneself and others, do not separate shamatha and vipashyana, the continuity of recitation and rituals is not interrupted by words, do not transgress the mudras of empowerment symbols, do not tell others the secret language spoken in the tantras, do not disturb the mandala, do not reverse the power of decline, do not abandon the lineage master, the guru, and so on. Likewise, Kalachakra.

Twenty-five vows. Regarding this, in the Kalachakra it says: The five root sins of training, the five near sins, the five killings, the five angers, and the five desires, thus the meaning of teaching the twenty vows of abandoning five sets of five is: First, abandoning the five sins, even harming the lives of tiny creatures, needless to say, always tormenting others; having a deceptive mind, lying; stealing the possessions of livestock, etc.; engaging in sexual misconduct out of desire; and the source of all downfall, becoming intoxicated by drinking alcohol, these five are like vajra ropes that bind one to the realm of samsara. Because they destroy all the accumulations of merit of oneself and others, one should also abandon all related aspects. If one cannot protect these five, then the remaining vows will not be given, therefore they are called the five root sins of training. Second, the five near sins are: gambling with dice, etc.; impure foods such as meat killed for consumption and value; meaningless chatter such as talk of war and trade; delighting in the religions of spirits and ghosts, such as offering sacrifices to ancestors and livestock sacrifices for the sake of the sick; not eating meat other than that which one has killed oneself, only wearing white clothes, and only consuming bird drinks, etc., having the behavior of asuras, practicing the religions of heretics, these five are near sins, therefore one should abandon them. Third, the five killings are: killing cattle with the aim of making offerings to desire heaven; killing children to worship mothers; killing men for men; killing women for women, these are the two mother offerings. The so-called killing of the guru of gods and humans refers to destroying the body images of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, scriptures, and stupas, which are named with the term killing. These are those heretical sects that speak of harm as religion, who think that great sins are also virtuous deeds, therefore they are separated from the first five sins and explained to express the opposite meaning. Therefore, slaughtering cattle and sheep under the pretext of offering to the Three Jewels, even without understanding the heretical sects
