Because its essence is non-existent, neither existence nor non-existence can be fixated upon, and it is free from dependence. Even if this is not fully understood, one should not abandon what is grasped by skillful means. For example, just as alchemy can transform copper into gold, relying on the special skillful instructions that are proficient in the appearance of phenomena, one can purify one's own nature into the five wisdoms. As stated in the Ocean Tantra: "The path of afflictions is great purification, the desired qualities of skillful means are the best of ornaments, through the play of all and everything, one quickly transforms into the splendor of Heruka." Also, as stated in the Compendium of Vehicles: "For those who possess great skillful means, afflictions transform into limbs of enlightenment." Because they are known as body and wisdom, they are not abandoned: For practitioners who enter the path of mantra, their continuous mind naturally becomes the body and wisdom. Therefore, when the five afflictions appear, they are immediately recognized as the nature of the five families and are not abandoned. As stated in the twenty-eighth root vow: "The five afflictions, such as jealousy, are inherently the nature of the five families." In short, the Shravakas abandon afflictions, the Pratyekabuddhas obstruct afflictions, Bodhisattvas purify afflictions by combining them with the roots of virtue, and outer tantric practitioners transform afflictions. In this stage of the Unsurpassed Vehicle, by combining the view of the great equality of Dharma with proficiency in the means of Samadhi, whatever is the nature of affliction is expanded by the Dharma nature of its own emptiness, so that it does not remain in its own aspect but is transformed into the path. As it is said: "Unceasing appearance is skillful means, the absence of inherent existence is wisdom." Also, as stated in the General Sutra: "The nature of afflictions that appear like poison, appears as the essence of the five wisdoms of liberation." Third, the five that are accepted: excrement, urine, human flesh, red bodhi, and marrow. Accepting the five, separates the two, clean and unclean, from conceptual thought. As it is said in the Eight Thousand Verses: "Excrement, urine, human flesh, red bodhi, and bodhicitta, in order to reverse the conceptual thoughts of sentient beings, should be accepted as primary." Because conceptual thoughts cease, it is the nature of Dharma, and by its own nature, it accomplishes the five Buddhas, by its power it eliminates diseases, and by its blessings it accomplishes siddhis, it is a special substance, so it should be accepted. As stated in the Clear Illumination: "To eliminate the five diseases, and to purify the conceptual thoughts of clean and unclean, for the five common necessities"

And the merits of accomplishing the five families, liberation from suffering, and attainment of accomplishments. Thus it is said. Therein, the Bodhisattva eliminates feverish diseases, obtains the dharani of non-forgetfulness, and obtains the Vajra family and mirror-like wisdom. Rakta eliminates cold diseases, increases radiance, and obtains the Padma family and discriminating wisdom. Excrement eliminates poisonous diseases, brings longevity, and obtains the Tathagata family and the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu. Urine eliminates coughs, makes the voice melodious, and obtains the Karma family and accomplishing wisdom. The essence of great flesh eliminates leprosy, brings great power, and obtains the Ratna family and equality wisdom. Thus, it is also said in the Vajra Tent of the Dakini: The yogi who relies on Akshobhya will completely eliminate all diseases. Constantly, he will become greatly radiant. The Vajra Sun will never age. By relying on the Vajra Dharma, he will enjoy all women. The Vajra that arises from the body of living beings is the true and great King Don-yö, endowed with glory, accomplishing all meanings, and the yogi pacifies him. Through the union of drinking Akshobhya, one will live for five thousand years. Constantly, it is said to be ten thousand years. The Vajra Sun is a hundred million years. Amitayus is countless years. As long as the sky exists, the seven horses will live countless Vajra days. These are the roots for accomplishing samsara. If yogis rely on these, they will become equal to the fortunate ones. Thus it is said. Its hidden meaning is that one binds one's own non-leaking semen and takes the essence of another's body. Fourth, the five to be known are: aggregates, sources, faculties, colors, deities. The five objects of knowledge are practiced with the power of wisdom. Among them, the aggregate of form is represented by Vairochana, the aggregate of feeling by Ratnasambhava, the aggregate of perception by Amitabha, the aggregate of formation by Amoghasiddhi, and the aggregate of consciousness by the wisdom of Akshobhya. The five elements are the five mothers, the five faculties and five consciousnesses are the heroes, the five objects are the consorts, the five colors are the five families, and the five knowledges are the five wisdoms. Thus, in the impure state, the alaya-consciousness separates into the aggregate of consciousness, faculties, consciousnesses, objects, etc., but upon recognizing the nature, in the pure state, one knows them as deities and their Dharma-nature wisdom.
