Because it devours (pa za bar byed pas), it is called Tummo (gtum mo). That very self, in the central channel (dbu ma), like a life-tree stacked in six layers, in the space of Rahu (sgra gcan), is gradually drawn by the chariot of life-force (srog rtsol) from the positions of each chakra. From the crown of the head, the Hum (ཧཾ, Ham, seed syllable, meaning emptiness) of the nature of the father is shown downwards, and when contact is made, the clear white essence descends, hence it is the central channel. In the state of arising bliss, relax for a moment. Then, the clear white essence of the Roma and the red of the Kyangma both enter from the upper and lower ends of the central channel, mixing in the heart, cultivating the experience of great bliss of bliss-emptiness union, E-vam (ཨེ་ཝཾ, E-vam, seed syllable, meaning wisdom and method). The second meaning is that the way Tummo blazes is the same as before, and the way of uniting E-vam (ཨེ་ཝཾ, E-vam, seed syllable, meaning wisdom and method) is to hold the mind on a mustard seed-sized lump in the heart where the A (ཨ) of the heart and the Vam (བཾ) of the crown are mixed. Furthermore, in the Kalachakra, after the seven pairs of seeds are complete, the letter Ksha (ཀྵ) of the nature of manifestation is mentioned as the seat, because all thirty vowel letters of the pairs of seeds transform into the nature of Hum (ཧཾ, Ham, seed syllable, meaning emptiness). The letter Ksha (ཀྵ) is mentioned for the purpose of uniting Hum (ཧཾ, Ham, seed syllable, meaning emptiness) and Ksha (ཀྵ), so the pairs become skillful means and wisdom, hence it is E-vam (ཨེ་ཝཾ, E-vam, seed syllable, meaning wisdom and method). If combined with the third, then those without attachment unite the two winds simultaneously. In the navel, in the form of the fire-wind E (ཨེ), the letter Hum (ཧཾ, Ham, seed syllable, meaning emptiness) melts, and the white bodhicitta of wind-mind, pervading the central channel and all the chakras, drips downwards, and the red one rises upwards. The two mix in the heart, so the innate coemergent wisdom arises in a state free from elaboration, and one relaxes. All three of these ultimately agree in equally abiding in the non-conceptual peace of mind and mental factors. The self-result achieved by that method is the realization of vipassana, the wisdom that transcends the experience of bliss-emptiness non-conceptuality, the real and the unreal, and the very transcendence of meditation must be known, as it says in the Guhyasamaja: Non-meditation is the object of meditation, Meditation itself is not meditation, Thus, because of real and unreal, Meditation has no object. Furthermore, in the general and specific chakras of the root places, because the wind is held, the bindu is held. Because the bindu is held, unchanging bliss is held and increased, so wind-mind becomes workable in each chakra. From the pure winds of the twelve time unions, the assembly

And also, to obtain the qualities of perfecting the four paths of ground, union, seeing, and meditation, is also from the twenty-one knots of the solitary channel being untied in pairs, thereby progressing through each of the ten grounds, and one should know that this is also the merit of each pure channel and each pure air being absorbed there. First, when air and mind enter the wheel of emanation, it becomes capable. By obtaining the samadhi of the stream of Dharma, the sign of heat of the great accumulation path arises. There, when the air abides, the qualities of mastery become manifest, thereby untying the first two channel knots of the central channel and the channel knot of the wheel of emanation. By becoming accustomed to the union of luminosity and equality of taste of the meaning of air, the certainty of the absorption of air is accomplished. One sees the face of the emanation body of the Buddha. In order to obtain mastery over the four legs of miraculous power, such as aspiration and so forth, one accomplishes the eye, clairvoyance, and subtle miracles. One obtains mastery over the emanation continuum. As it says in the Ornament: At that time, from the stream of Dharma, in order to obtain peace for the Buddhas and vast wisdom, one goes to all the realms of the world. If one differentiates, in the small accumulation path, the four mindfulnesses are: by meditating on the body as a deity, one establishes mindfulness of the body; by transforming arising feelings into wisdom, one establishes mindfulness of feelings; by pacifying the proliferation of mind and mental events, one establishes mindfulness of mind; by knowing all appearances and labels as illusion, one establishes mindfulness of Dharma. As it says in the Noble Illusion Net: Self-blessing is mindfulness of the body, that is, appearing as the nature of a deity, like an image. The state of great wisdom of universal discrimination is the nature of feeling, that is, great bliss. Completely victorious over the side of proliferation, here the mind is without object. Training in illusion as the nature of an image is the nature of Dharma. So it says. In the middle accumulation path, the four right abandonments are: by abiding in the generation and completion stages, one does not newly generate non-virtuous dharmas that have not arisen. If they have arisen, one purifies them into deity appearance in the generation stage and bliss-clarity in the completion stage. One newly generates virtuous dharmas that have not arisen with many branches of the generation and completion stages. The means of increasing those that have arisen are self-entry and fire offerings, etc.
