If one were to contemplate the likenesses of the realms of samsara, both fortunate and unfortunate, such as the four castes and the thousand eyes of Indra, there would be no end to it. Why is that? Because in the perfections and the vast mind, such as the six perfections, and in the means of venerating the guru, one first demonstrates the special wisdom that does not rely on the appearance of signs and examples, and one desires to accomplish the fruition of the three bodies solely through that. However, in mantra, it is said that the path of the generation stage, if not grasped by the view of emptiness, the self-sufficient generation stage will stray into the three realms. Therefore, a deity yoga that is not grasped by the calculation of emptiness is undoubtedly a path devoid of the wisdom of selflessness in this context. On the side of wisdom, the resonance of emptiness, which does not rely on contemplating images, combined with great compassion, is the path of the union of means and wisdom, the basis for accomplishing the Dharmakaya, the source of all Rupakayas. Therefore, that scripture well explains the distinction between what has signs and what is without signs. Although one wishes to contemplate forms with faces and hands, mostly one follows and accords with the sutras, first generating oneself and the deity in front as distinct with signs, but ultimately, when habit becomes stable, one knows the form of the meaning in one's mind, and like cutting off all the elaborations of external objects, one knows that contemplating colors and shapes is like impure deities and the actions of body, speech, and mind, merely appearances, and thus one strives in the inner yoga without signs, and establishes that very thing as the designation of a completely pure deity. If one thinks that because the form and sound of the deity are involved, it is with signs, that is not certain, because form and sound are also involved in the Dharmakaya and Svabhavikakaya. Thus, having well understood the two yogas of having signs and not having signs, the second is the practice of union, and one should understand from the Ornament for Clear Realization and other texts the way of relying on the recitation of the four outer limbs and the four inner limbs. Here, it is widely held that one generates oneself as the samaya being, generates the wisdom being in front, takes accomplishment from that, and the wisdom being does not enter oneself. However, in the collected commentary on praise, it says: essence, mudra, mantra, etc.

Furthermore, following what is quoted as "in the manner you wish," there are also those who wish to introduce the wisdom being into the self-generation. This seems to be reasoned from the Yoga Tantras. In general, regarding whether or not there is self-generation in the Kriya and Charya, and whether or not the wisdom being is introduced, these two aspects are covered by the fundamental direct teachings and the reasoning of the Yoga Tantras. However, the views of the Indian Acharyas also seem to be inconsistent, so one cannot be entirely certain. The general principle of summarizing the paths of both Kriya and Charya lies in the four yogas: the yoga of the deity and suchness, and the yoga of prana and recitation. The first two are the main methods for accomplishing the two form bodies, and recitation is a limb for stimulating the deity's mind-stream, and the yoga of prana is a limb for stabilizing the first two. Therefore, if all four are summarized, they can be gathered into two: with signs and without signs. Moreover, the yoga of prana is not the same as the completion stage of Anuttarayoga. It is merely a cause for accomplishing the samadhi of bliss and clarity, and the yoga of the deity, so it has a great difference from the special paths of the higher tantras. Third, the accomplished conduct is: relying on external substances such as swords, grasping the awareness of the sword, and so forth; meditating on the mandala of the four elements in the various places of the inner body, accomplishing the four activities; practicing the Radiant Mother and so forth, striving to see the signs of those deities, thereby obtaining the samadhi of not forgetting the mind of enlightenment, and so forth. The tantras speak of various ways of accomplishing siddhis. What are the characteristics of the Yoga Tantra? The characteristics of the Yoga Tantra are: from the prow of the Yoga Tantra downwards, like displaying the great splendor of the Sambhogakaya, although the generation stage and completion stage are taught, they are not union; skillful means and wisdom are separate and sequential; mainly practicing yoga, with body and speech as assistants; binding with the four seals of invoking and dissolving the wisdom being; taking siddhis from the state of non-duality of the samaya being and the wisdom being; and performing dismissal and offering at the end of recitation. Among these, the root tantra is the Compendium of All Tantras, the explanatory tantra is the Vajra Peak Tantra, the similar tantras are the Glorious Supreme First Tantra, and so forth, as well as the Vajradhatu, Trailokyavijaya, and Purifying the Lower Realms.
