It is so. The support for thought is the fourth dhyana. The cause is the three paths of accumulation, application, and seeing of the Mahayana. The result is the path of no more learning. The characteristic is that it can be nominally established as the Mahayana path of cultivation from the second bhumi upwards to the final cutting off of the ten bhumis. It refers to the dharma that arises after the completion of the Mahayana seeing path, is held by the virtues of one's own path, and becomes the cause for the arising of the first moment of the Mahayana path of no more learning. The characteristic is any dharma that is held by the virtues belonging to the wheel of the nature of the ten bhumis. The classification is that the path of cultivation is divided into three: small, medium, and large, and each of these is further divided into three, making a total of nine. Among them, the smallest of the small is the second bhumi, the stainless bhumi, which refers to the situation of the first bhumi, where one cannot abide in mindfulness with respect to subtle downfalls, while the second bhumi has the complete qualities of being able to abide in mindfulness. This bhumi does not engage in subtle downfalls, or is naturally pure, so the paramita of morality predominates, and because it does not possess all the defilements of wrong conduct, it is called the stainless bhumi. As the Ornament of the Sutras says: 'Because it is free from the defilement of striving for wrong conduct, it is called the stainless bhumi.' The medium of the small is the third bhumi, the illuminating bhumi, which refers to the situation of the second bhumi, where one cannot enter into all worldly samadhis, nor can one retain the meaning of what is heard, while the third bhumi has the complete qualities of being able to retain what is heard and being able to directly realize samadhi. This bhumi is mostly characterized by the paramita of patience, due to the asceticism of directly realizing all worldly samadhis, and because of obtaining these samadhis, it has immeasurable light of transcendental wisdom, so it is called the illuminating bhumi. As it is said: 'Because it makes great light of dharma, it is called the illuminating bhumi.' The largest of the small is the fourth bhumi, the radiant bhumi, which refers to the situation of the third bhumi, where, although one has obtained all worldly samadhis, one cannot repeatedly abide in the limbs of enlightenment of how one has obtained them, nor can one equally abide in dharma and samadhi.

The fourth ground is distinguished by the fourth ground practitioner's ability to fully perfect the limbs of power. Moreover, it is constant and uninterrupted, having truly transcended the expression of speech and mind. Therefore, it abides in the dharmas of the Bodhi aspect, and thus the perfection of diligence is greater. Because it can burn all the firewood of afflictions, the light of the dharmas of the Bodhi aspect shines exceedingly, hence the name 'Radiant' is added. Thus, the dharmas in accordance with the Bodhi aspect are like a light that burns exceedingly. Because it is endowed with that, that ground is called 'Radiant' because it burns the two. So it is said. The medium-small fifth ground, the 'Difficult to Tame,' is distinguished by the fourth ground practitioner contemplating the truth in various ways, not inclining towards samsara, and turning the mind away from the path of nirvana, being unable to cultivate the Bodhi aspect supported by skillful means, while the fifth ground practitioner is able to fully perfect the limbs of power. Moreover, because one repeatedly contemplates the aspects of truth, the perfection of meditation is greater. To abide in and cultivate the Bodhi aspect supported by skillful means many times, and to accomplish that completely, is extremely difficult to tame, hence the name 'Difficult to Tame' is added. To fully ripen sentient beings, and to protect one's own mind, the wise tame with difficulty, therefore it is called 'Difficult to Tame.' So it is said. The medium-medium sixth ground, the 'Manifest,' is distinguished by the previous ground practitioner individually examining the entry into samsara with weariness, being unable to settle the mind-stream in the absence of signs, while the sixth ground practitioner is able to fully perfect the limbs of power. Moreover, because the bodhisattva abides in that ground, cultivating dependent origination, the perfection of wisdom is greater. Because one has attained abiding in the absence of signs, all dharmas of samsara and nirvana are called 'Manifest.' Relying on the perfection of wisdom, samsara and nirvana, both become manifest here, therefore it is called the 'Manifest Ground.' So it is said. The medium-large seventh ground, the 'Far Gone,' is the stage of the sixth ground practitioner, although one has attained abiding in the absence of signs, if one cannot abide in the absence of signs without interruption, then one cannot...
