Fleeting, decaying, and ever-changing, a new letter of weariness is issued regarding the untrustworthy nature, thereby encouraging meditators to persevere. As it is said in the 'Letter of Encouragement': 'The full moon is adorned with radiance, the waistband is entwined with dense rain clouds, in the vastness of the mountain peak forest, without attachment, the nature that moves like the wind is the fortune of accumulating life.' And so on. The Scholar Hero said: 'Bees, full and soaring, sing, tree branches dance, birds emit sweet sounds, cool breezes gently blow in all directions, mountain streams murmur, beautiful deer run and circle, flowers seem to smile, sandalwood and other fragrances abound. Such are the qualities of a monastery, benefiting oneself and others, without expecting any return, why are yogis with many friends weary? Ordinary worldly people are not like that.' Therefore, the exhortation to go to such a forest is: Go there, you who desire meditation! In the midst of the cloud-like peak of enjoyment, the lightning of life's play flickers and trembles, change and suffering are the common acts of the brigands of the aggregates, the flood that creates the collapse of the aggregates is noisy and chaotic, the desires of accumulating, guarding, and increasing are tumultuous, pride, miserliness, and stinginess exhaust life, wandering endlessly in the boundless ocean of evil destinies. It is said that no one has attained meditation in the center of worldly perfection, therefore, our teacher, who practiced the conduct of enlightenment for countless eons, also renounced the kingdom of a universal monarch and went to a solitary place. Thus, although worldly wealth arises from dependence on a household, its nature can change from existence to non-existence in an instant, like a cloud that suddenly appears in the sky. Even if it exists for a short time, it is of the nature of suffering, as it is said in the 'Six Aspects of Meditation': 'The beginning of a household is suffering, it never becomes happiness. If a snake sees another's dwelling, entering it will increase happiness.' Having said that, for example, a snake...

Just as a bird cannot bear to be harassed by many chicks in its own nest, and finds peace by moving to another cave. Life at home is tiring due to agriculture, suffering from taxes and military service, and the karmic consequences of killing and other actions interrupt life. It is a cage full of three kinds of suffering. Most actions go against cause and effect, and are the source of downfall, like a harmful waterfall. Busy when accumulating, tired when guarding, and never-ending when multiplying, these three desires disturb the mind. As it says in the Letter to a Friend: "The suffering of accumulating, guarding, and seeking, know that wealth is an endless source of downfall." Moreover, if one is slightly wealthy, one becomes arrogant and even hates the jealousy of others. If it decreases from that, one becomes worried and stingy, and the source of miserliness greatly increases, indulging in the faults of desire without restraint, and therefore one will be led to endless evil paths. As it says in the Letter to a Lama: "Due to lost craving for desire, one destroys oneself and others. Even if the gods rain down wish-fulfilling rain, they will not be able to satisfy those with desire." Therefore, if one abandons the source of all desires—the household—suffering will be eliminated, so one should also be wary of manifesting the concept of household in the monastery, and strive to reduce activities, which is very important in the degenerate age. The teaching that wealth is the source of suffering is: It has the value of accumulating with clouds of deceit. The more wealth, the more suffering. Simple utensils are abandoned due to the harm of enemies and thieves. Obtaining contentment is the peak of wealth. Therefore, worldly enjoyments, such as commerce, must rely on many deceptive actions to be obtained, so one will lose direction. Deceit is having a devious mind, and deception is having the intention to deceive others. The combination of these two is like experiencing the feeling of a dark cloud accumulating in summer. Constantly tormented by desires, greed is heavy. Accustomed to stealing secretly, lying, and focusing on the thought of one's own victory, therefore the bodhicitta is severely weakened. Plundering, harming other lives, slaves, pack animals, etc., the journey is long and far.
