The Blessed One said, "It is close to the one vehicle path." And, "If a fire suddenly breaks out on your head or clothes, you should abandon all other tasks to extinguish it. You should strive to ensure that you are not reborn. There is no other need more supreme than this." This is a speech that urges diligence, swift and ultimate. Similarly, the teacher Chandrapa wrote to his student: "The human form is extremely difficult to obtain. Having obtained it, whatever you are capable of, you should diligently practice it. Like the flame of an oil lamp, shaken by a strong wind, life does not remain for an instant, and there is no certainty." This shows that the opponent of diligence, the antidote to laziness, the most excellent of all, is the remembrance of impermanence, which is the essence of the oral instructions. Therefore, one should generate diligence that is not mixed with laziness. With diligence that has cleared away the stains of laziness, it is not showing the partiality of a slow flow, until reaching the ocean of omniscience, one should not abandon the conduct of moving swiftly. Among them, the rivers are used as an example of making one unpleasant with the dirt of turbidity. The opposite of diligence is only laziness, so the path of being diligent at one time and not diligent at another is far from enlightenment and accompanied by weariness, so one should know the reason for its faults. In the Sutra on Mindfulness it says: "The basis of all afflictions is laziness, which is present in whom? In whom there is one laziness, in him there is no Dharma." Thus, although diligence is established as one category, in reality it is the companion of all six perfections, and if it is not present, then the others will also decline. In the Sutra Requested by Blo-gros rGya-mtsho it says: "For the lazy, enlightenment is very far away, extremely far away. For the lazy, there is no generosity, and so on, up to wisdom. For the lazy, there is no benefit to others." Thus, because they do not have these, the reason for the ripening of black karma is also stated in the Mother Sutra: "With laziness, one cannot accomplish even one's own benefit, let alone benefit others? With the fully ripened karma of laziness, beings will be born in hell, in the birth place of animals, and in the world of Yama." Thus. If there is no wind to move, then there is no shaking and swiftness.

Just as a lamp cannot be lit without oil, the nature of Bodhi depends on the great ground of virtue, which is the accumulation of merit and wisdom, and without diligence, these will not arise. Therefore, it is said: Thus, Bodhi dwells in diligence, like immobility without wind, without merit and diligence, it will not arise. Therefore, after contemplating the benefits of diligence and the faults of laziness, I have entered and vowed to practice the Bodhisattva's conduct. To purify each fault along with its imprints, and to increase each and every quality, our teacher also, in countless eons, became accustomed to the stages of the path in the process of learning. My behavior is merely guarding laziness, abandoning diligence, and wasting this precious human body with leisure and endowment, thus urging myself. I have never developed a habit even for a small portion of virtue, and it is strange that I have wasted this rare life so meaninglessly. This means generating a strong desire for that fault, just like an elephant scorched by the sun, rushing unhesitatingly into a lotus-adorned lake in the heat of the day, striving tirelessly without satisfaction, then transcendent diligence will naturally arise in the continuum. As the "Earth Store Ten Wheels Sutra" says: Transcendent diligence is when a Bodhisattva, with great diligence, treats all sentient beings with equanimity, eliminating all afflictions, karma, and suffering. Engaging in aimless actions, initiating diligence with a non-abiding mind, initiating diligence without dwelling in the three realms, diligence without discriminating the ripened result, diligence without dwelling on gain and no gain, this is transcendent diligence. As it is said. Now, at the beginning of explaining the Perfection of Meditation, first, the causes and conditions for achieving meditation are shown, among which the first is the explanation of the qualities of the forest: The medicinal meadows in the forest are covered with flowers, swans dwell in extremely peaceful places, the beautiful rocky hillsides and...
