Thinking that bathing is allowed to wash away dirt, if it is necessary to use leftover clothes, unsuitable white clothes, and leather, etc., because of the lack of clothing mats, or because of weakness due to cold, and life is at stake, then think that this time it is allowed to enjoy. If it is necessary to touch and possess jewels, one should generate the thought that it is allowed for the purpose of offering to the Three Jewels and benefiting sentient beings. Furthermore, for the permissions and prohibitions that are not explicitly stated, it can be seen from the Minor Vinaya: Monks, I have extensively explained the Vinaya to you, but not in brief. However, listen also to the brief explanation. Monks, I have not allowed or prohibited anything from the beginning. If it is close to being allowed and prevents what is inappropriate, then it should be considered allowed. If it is close to being inappropriate and prevents what is allowed, then it is inappropriate and should not be universally practiced. This is easy to understand. The Three Hundred Verses says: What is not allowed, and likewise not prohibited, that should be judged according to the Buddha's words, based on the circumstances. The Vinaya in Brief, like a lamp, the Tathagata also spoke other similar teachings. In short, the Sarvastivada, the Mahasanghika, the Sthavira, and the Mahasammatas, all the precepts of these four schools, it is impossible that they are not covered by the Buddha's regulations, so one can obtain dominion over all the precepts. Thereafter, more than one hundred and thirty years after the Buddha's Nirvana, Mara Papiyas, as the opposite of all that is good, in the guise of a monk, created a great schism in the Sangha through five bases, thereby splitting into two fundamental schools, namely the Sthavira and the Mahasanghika. Due to the split, the Sthavira had ten schools, and the Mahasanghika had eight schools. During that time, the Sangha split, and disputes continued for sixty-three years, and finally the descendants of the Sthavira correctly gathered the Dharma. At that time, the split of the Sangha was not a split of the Dharma wheel. The Abhidharmakosha says: The initial marginal defects, in pairs, the previous faults of the Buddha, and also in places where boundaries were not demarcated.

"No schism of the Sangha will occur." Therefore, the one who can cause schism is a Bhikshu who possesses view and conduct. The object of division, other than the abbot teacher, is the Sangha of individual ordinary beings who have reached eight members. Ultimately, the teacher Devadatta, other than the Buddha, and the five ascetic practices of Devadatta, other than the true Dharma, are regarded as the path, and the precepts are taken, which is schism. Therefore, in this era, there is neither a living teacher, nor is it a time when faults have occurred in the teachings, nor are there terms such as the boundary of appointing dual supreme ones. In general, such a fault is not impossible, because from the schism of the Sangha until it is not reconciled, none of the five paths will arise in the realm of a single Buddha. So it is said. This refers to the dispute that arises because the other party has said inconsistent words, and therefore relies on the mind and clings to it. The internal cause is clinging to self, and the external cause is the false proof of the suchness of things. In addition, abandoning the teachings, accompanied by downfalls, and giving inconsistent actions, these four causes of dispute are stated in the root text of the pacification ritual: "Manifest remembrance is not madness, like the nature of anything, like spreading grass, one should not promise." As it is said, these are the seven pacifications. Among them, the four schools are: the Sarvastivada, the Mahasanghika, the Sthavira, and the Sammatīya. Among them, the first is the lineage of the royal caste Rāhula, from which the seven schools branched out: the Sarvastivadins, the Kāśyapīyas, the Dharmaguptakas, the Bahuśrutīyas, the Dharmajñānas, the Kāśyapīyas, and the Vibhajyavādins. The Mahasanghika is the lineage of the Brahmin caste Mahākāśyapa, from which the five schools branched out: the Eastern Mountain School, the Western Mountain School, the Snow Mountain School, the Prajñaptivada School, and the Lokottaravada School. The Sthavira is the lineage of the reed craftsman caste Kātyāyana, from which the three schools branched out: the school residing in Jetavana, the school residing in Abhayagiri, and the school residing in the monastery. The Sammatīya is the lineage of the barber caste Ānanda.
