Furthermore, for those who are leaving tomorrow, they should inform the lama now and obtain permission. Do not leave if it is not in accordance with the rules. For the place where you are staying overnight, you should recite the three: Tantra, Generation Stage, and Completion Stage, in the morning and evening. In addition, for the basis of comfortable living, such as clothing, leather, and lodging, etc., you should learn about them in detail elsewhere. Here, I will only briefly mention the essence. It is said that when Shakyamuni Buddha was residing in Shravasti, monks who had finished their summer retreat came to pay homage, and because they were very tired from the great effort, the Buddha allowed the use of mats. This is actually the foundation of the mat—the grass mat—used when sewing robes. A monk who uses a spread-out mat obtains ten benefits: holding, leaving, and placing the three, using it repeatedly, gathering, leaving without permission, avoiding the five faults of asking for clothes, and wherever a monk belonging to the mat resides, they can jointly obtain wealth, they can use clothes that have not been allowed, and they can use clothes that have not been sewn. The manner, time, person, object, and ritual of the mat are not mentioned here. Regarding the basis of clothing: the Buddha allowed the Shravakas to cut the cloth obtained during the summer retreat, dye it in an undesirable color, and wear it. Because Embodied Essence saw practitioners and mistook them for Shravakas, he requested that marks be made, and the Buddha therefore allowed sewn clothes. This is related to the thirteen items of livelihood: the sanghati, the upper robe, the outer robe, the lower robe, and the sweat cloth, the actual sweat cloth, the cloth for the sweat cloth, the face cloth, the pus cloth, the itch cloth, the razor, the mat, and the large summer cloth. The materials for these are also seven suitable ones that are neither too bad nor too good: wool, Shananika, cotton, Zarma, Kotamba, and Dukula. The materials for the robes are seven types. It is said that the cloth should also not be too hairy or have elaborate patterns. Furthermore, it should not be dyed with eight unsuitable major colors: madder, annatto, purple ore, safflower, vermillion, and saffron. These eight are considered major colors. There are three suitable colors: blue, madder, and turmeric.

It is said, the three colors of dyeing. Also, one should not wear clothes that have not been cut with a knife. It is said that those that should be cut and sewn should be cut and sewn, and if not, they should be patched. However, those that are flat can be touched with a knife according to the size of the fine cloth and the length and width. The necessities of life, those also each have their own nature, and must be blessed with their own names. If there are no three actual Dharma robes, then bless the substitutes, and for those that will not lose the substitutes, bless them according to the circumstances. The necessity is that in reality, the faults of wearing and taking off are avoided and not mixed, and through it, the benefit of being free from attachment to objects arises. If among the remaining utensils, the second used cloth can be used as a cushion, it is for the abbot, and if it is not suitable, it is worn relying on the patron, or blessed with other names. The way of wearing it is that from the point of view of thought, just as there is a wound on the body, and the wound is wrapped and covered with clothes, there should be an awareness of caution, especially the used cloth, is to make it surpass the mark of less than a novice monk, and to follow the biography of the teacher, and to wear it for the sake of arousing the mindfulness of the practitioner. Thus, the banner of the kasaya given by the teacher, in the end, cannot be repaired with patches, etc., but in order to increase the merit of the donor, it is mixed with soil and heavy objects, etc., and applied to the yellow part of the temple and the stupa. The basis of leather is that Katyayana's disciple, Rice Sprout Born Twenty Billion, came from the remote rocky land to see the teacher and asked, and the teacher agreed. This rule is related to special circumstances, so in the central region, in order to protect the residence, only leather shoes are allowed, and in a house that is not a temple, if there is no cushion, only sitting on leather is allowed, and lying down is not allowed, but in the remote area, in order to protect against the cold, both shoes and bedding are allowed, but fancy, gold and silver decorated, sounding leather shoes, and the leather of elephants, tigers, leopards, horses, donkeys, etc., are decorations, so they are not allowed to be worn. However, just as leather clothes are allowed in the Asmapatanta region, hats are also allowed in areas where water freezes.
