Because its nature is non-existent, there are no elaborations such as impurity. Its meaning is also as stated in the *Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra*: "Because of the nature of signlessness, the nature of birthlessness, and the nature of ultimate reality, I have taught that all things are without inherent existence." Therefore, it should be understood that this is an important and true explanation of the profound meaning of the scriptures. The intention for other times is like: "Whoever holds, utters, or reads this aspiration of the Good Conduct Prayer, the Buddha knows its ripening result; do not doubt the supreme enlightenment." Although it is not possible to attain enlightenment solely by this without relying on other causes and conditions, it refers to the fact that having accumulated a large amount of merit in the past, it will become like a helmsman guiding a ship to enlightenment in the future. The intention for different individuals is like disparaging pride in generosity and attachment to discipline, while praising patience and diligence. As stated in the *Kṣitigarbha Sūtra*: "For example, one should pay homage to the waxing moon, not the full moon. Kṣitigarbha, similarly, those who have great faith in anything should pay homage to Bodhisattvas, not the Tathāgatas." In general, pride and attachment to characteristics are great enemies of the six perfections and other virtues. In the chapter on the Emanation of Mañjuśrī, it says: "Son of the gods, the more one engages in activities, the more one engages in the activities of Māra. The more one desires, the more one clings, the more one cherishes, the more one engages in the activities of Māra. The more one desires, the more one is conscious, the more one is proud, the more one understands, the more one engages in the activities of Māra. Son of the gods, furthermore, clinging to the mind of enlightenment is also the activity of Māra. Clinging to the mind of generosity is also the activity of Māra. Similarly, clinging to the mind of discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom is also the activity of Māra." And so on, it is widely explained. The second aspect, hidden intention, refers to expressing in a hidden way for those who cannot understand or have doubts.

I, along with the one possessing parts, in order to skillfully guide onto the correct path, expound teachings where the words agree but the meaning does not. As it says in the Nirvana Sutra: "World Honored One, what is called the word of the Tathagata's intention?" The venerable Kashyapa replied: "The word of the Tathagata's intention refers to when the Tathagata says, 'The Tathagata has entered Nirvana,' but in reality, the Tathagata is constant, firm, peaceful, and true. Although having entered Nirvana, he does not change. This sutra is the word of intention." Furthermore, a subtle intention refers to when one desires to correctly guide another, but from the mode of expression, one subtly speaks in another way. As it says in the chapter of Ajatashatru: "Then, King Ajatashatru, in his own house, seeing those Bodhisattvas and great Shravaka disciples having washed their bowls and hands, sat before Manjushri, who had transformed into a youth, in order to listen to the Dharma, and said: 'Manjushri, please eliminate my remorse.' Manjushri said: 'Great King, your remorse cannot be eliminated even by Buddhas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges.' Then, King Ajatashatru, not finding refuge, fell to the great earth like a cut tree. Then, the great elder Kashyapa said to King Ajatashatru: 'Great King, Manjushri, who has transformed into a youth, is skilled in subtle expression. Do not be afraid, do not be terrified, ask him according to what reason he said this.'" Like this. Therefore, here, from the aspect of the object of focus, it is understood subtly, but from the aspect of words, it is subtly expressed as the name of the Dharma that others like or as the one possessing parts itself, thereby indicating the method of guiding into the non-erroneous meaning. If classified, there are entering, nature, antidote, and transformation. Entering, which subtle intention is pleasing to the Shravakas? For those who abandon the Mahayana out of fear of emptiness, by proclaiming the existence of reality, they understand and enter. This is the intention of considering appearances as illusory and dreamlike. Nature, the nature of subtle intention is the meaning of no self-nature. In order to understand its meaning, there are, in order, the three aspects of the completely imputed, the other-powered, and the thoroughly established. Among these, the first is the self-nature of no self-nature, the second is the birth of no self-nature, and the third is the ultimate self-nature of no self-nature, therefore the expression of all dharmas is profound.
