Thus, by dwelling in a pure place, it will not be exhausted. So it is. Now, the fruit of the five perfections, the perfection of wisdom, is explained. What is the definitive discernment of the training in higher wisdom? The wisdom that arises from the yoga of samadhi, or the wisdom that arises from substance and consequence, or the three wisdoms that arise from hearing, thinking, and meditating, perfectly accomplish vipassana. Therein, to thoroughly distinguish without confusion the meaning expressed by the Abhidhamma Pitaka is the essence of the training in higher wisdom, which is in accordance with the aspect of definitive discernment. That is, through familiarizing oneself with the yoga of samadhi and completely training, the actual wisdom that makes the mind workable and is free from the defilement of obscurations, or the wisdom that is in accordance with it, turning towards it without bewilderment, and relying on the wisdom of hearing, thinking, and meditating, one knows the reality of all phenomena as they are, and the skillful means of instructing sentient beings' minds in a non-perverted way is the nature of wisdom. Such wisdom is not possessed by the Shravakas and others, so it is also immeasurable. As it is said in the Minor Commentary: 'Those born from hearing, thinking, and meditating, or the wisdom born from the yoga of samadhi, and from substance and consequence.' Thus, the entity of wisdom refers to the suchness of vipassana. From the perspective of function, it cuts off the accumulation of afflictions, knows phenomena and entities, passes from the city of existence to the absence of sorrow, and the six perfections, such as generosity, also go from higher to higher, with wisdom entering into distinctions, relying on the perfections. In this way, by striving for the meaning of the three wisdoms, some afflictions are directly eliminated, and some are eliminated from the root, and the reality of the profound nature of phenomena and entities, and all appearances of distorted phenomena, are also known without error. Knowing in this way, one can quickly transcend the city of existence, which is difficult to overcome due to sins and afflictions, and reach the state of nirvana, and also integrate into the distinctions from higher to higher in the five perfections. As it is said in the Ratnavali: 'The latter arises dependent on the former, because they are in inferior and superior states, and because they are gross and subtle, those.'

It is based on sequence. As it is said, the qualities and results of all five reside in Prajñāpāramitā itself. The Compendium says: The five pāramitās, all the qualities of enlightenment, all of them rely on the perfection of wisdom. And as the teacher Śāntideva said: Afflictions and obscurations of knowledge, the antidote to darkness, is emptiness. Thus, as long as it is not grasped by the Perfection of Wisdom, the five, such as generosity, are like the blind. For example, even if a painter completes all the work, if he does not open his eyes, he will not receive wages. As the former says: When it is completely grasped by wisdom, then the eye is found and this name is obtained. For example, the work of painting is completed but without eyes, as long as the eyes are not drawn, the reward will not be received. Therefore, first, let us briefly establish the benefits of wisdom. Teacher Āryadeva said: These seen and unseen qualities, the root of all is wisdom. Thus, in order to accomplish both, wisdom should be fully grasped. Also, first, in the stage of the path of accumulation, the samādhis of the feet of miraculous powers must also be accomplished by relying on wisdom. Thus, just as the light of the sun and moon is the most excellent among the lights of jewels and lamps, wisdom is the most excellent in making the knowable clear. As the commentary on the Compendium of Learning also shows, in the path of application, the leader of the five faculties and five powers is also wisdom. If there is a protector of wisdom, one can well know the faults of generosity being harmed by stinginess and faith being obscured by wrong views, and thus be skilled in the means of exhausting afflictions and increasing qualities. As the teacher Vīravarman said: These merits of generosity and so on, with the protection of wisdom, become especially powerful. And: The nature of the faculties of faith and so on, among the faculties, wisdom is the main one as it should be. Possessing its protection, knowing the faults of qualities, one becomes skilled in the manner of exhausting afflictions. Thus, when a Bodhisattva is learning on the path, even if he cuts off flesh from his own body and gives it away, he sees it as a sick person taking medicine from a medicinal tree, and it is not certain that he will attain a good rebirth by relying on generosity.
