All that arises from the combination and what is obtained after that, all depending on means. In the Secret Sutra of the Tathagata, it says: "Son of lineage, for example, fire burns from fuel, and if there is no fuel, it will be extinguished. Similarly, the mind burns with an object of focus, and if there is no object of focus, the mind will be pacified." Therefore, the Bodhisattva who is skilled in means, with the completely pure Prajnaparamita, also knows that the object of focus is close to pacification, but also does not pacify the object of focus on the root of virtue, nor does he cause the object of focus on affliction to arise, and he also places it on the object of focus of the Paramitas. He also individually contemplates the object of focus in emptiness, and also looks at the object of focus of all sentient beings with great compassion. Son of lineage, in this way, the Bodhisattva who is skilled in means, with the pure Prajnaparamita, obtains power over the object of focus. Thus, whatever the object of focus of the Bodhisattva may be, all of that is without exception for the sake of manifesting the omniscient wisdom. The Bodhisattva who completely dedicates all objects of focus, that is the Bodhisattva's means, that is, he sees that all dharmas follow after Bodhi. This passage clearly shows that all objects of focus are conditioned. Because it is so, the characteristic of dedication is also completely established. The Prajnaparamita is liberated from the three times, the three realms, and good and evil themselves, so there is no dedication for it. In the Tantra of Correct Combination, it says: "Its sin and merit, the two are separate thoughts, the wise should abandon these two." And so on, there is much more. Therefore, in the state of arising from that Samadhi, at other times, one should view all the worlds as illusion, mirage, dream, water moon, and eye disease. The wisdom obtained after that should generate this thought: Alas, these sentient beings, because of complete affliction, have not understood such profound Dharma, so they wander in Samsara, how pitiful. Thus, the conventional Bodhicitta is manifested. And also, in the Samadhi where all dharmas are without appearance, in the state of ultimate Bodhicitta.

One should abide in equanimity. When the mind, free from the faults of sinking and excitement, abides in equanimity and merges into that sole suchness, then one should relax effort and train to become accustomed to the equanimity of balanced calm abiding and insight. If effort is applied to this, the mind will become distracted and excited. If, on the other hand, the radiance of knowledge diminishes and one becomes sunk, one should recognize that there is no superior seeing, like a blind person entering a dark mind, or like closing one's eyes. In order to eliminate the fault of lacking the radiance of discriminating wisdom, one should correct the sinking by seeking it out and raising it up, and illuminate the radiance of awakening with the nature of non-conceptual wisdom, which correctly understands the meaning of knowable things. When someone considers sharp speculation to be superior seeing, and the mind becomes distracted and excited like a monkey, if they mistake it for discriminating wisdom, then it will contradict the emptiness and selflessness of all phenomena. Why? Because wisdom is a distinction of things, and if things do not exist, then wisdom itself cannot be established, just as if a tree does not exist, then the prohibition of shava and so on cannot be discussed. As the Paṇḍita Prajñā-mokṣa also stated in the commentary on the Madhyamaka. If that is the case, then in the Saṃdhinirmocana Sūtra it says: "Like that, in the image of the object of samādhi, the discrimination of the meaning of knowable things, and the extreme discrimination, and the complete deliberation and complete observation, and the forbearance, and the desire and the distinction, and the view and the discrimination, these are called superior seeing. Like that, the Bodhisattva is skilled in superior seeing." If someone thinks that this contradicts the above, then these are not referring to the sole superior seeing that sees the nature of wisdom, in which all phenomena are non-dual, like the center of the sky when abiding in equanimity. Rather, they are referring to the discrimination that occurs when the distinction of knowable things enters the object of knowledge by knowing how many knowable things there are, and the extreme discrimination that occurs when the knowable things do not enter the object and are known as they are in the purity of their own nature, and the holding of the characteristics accompanied by observation by remembering the words of the twelve branches of scripture and so on with the wisdom of hearing and thinking, and by speculating on the meaning.
