In order to purify afflictions such as attachment, and in order to increase certain qualities, our teacher also diligently practiced in various stages of the path of learning in countless eons. But my behavior is to protect laziness, abandon diligence, and only do that, am I wasting this leisure and fortune human body in vain? So I admonish myself. I have never developed even a little bit of familiarity with merit. What is the use of obtaining a human body like me? It's ridiculous that I wasted this life! After generating a strong desire for such faults, just like an elephant scorched by the sun, in the scorching sun, without any obstacles, it plunges into a lotus-filled lake without hesitation, striving for insatiable diligence, and naturally transcendent diligence will arise in the mind. As it is said in the Ksitigarbha Ten Wheel Sutra: "Transcendental diligence is the diligence of a Bodhisattva who is extremely diligent, with an equal mind, eliminates all the afflictions, karma, and suffering of all sentient beings, acts from actions without objects, and initiates diligence with a non-abiding mind. He initiates diligence without abiding in the three realms. Diligence that does not discriminate against the ripening fruit, diligence that does not abide in what is gained and not gained, this is transcendental diligence." Now, to begin with the explanation of the perfection of meditation, first, the causes and conditions for the accomplishment of meditation are shown, and first, the merits of the forest are explained: The forest is full of flowers and lush medicinal herbs, inhabited by very gentle swans, the rocky hillsides are beautiful, and there are young deer playing. There, all the ground is covered with green grass and bushes, and the peacock-necked forest is adorned with flowers from various trees and seedlings, making everything around it very beautiful. The clear spring water makes a pleasant sound, falling on the good steps, making a crisp sound, the difference between hills and valleys becomes gentle, and in appropriate places there are lakes, ponds, and puddles.

Lakes, and, slow-flowing rivers are harmless, surrounded by new trees, swans and geese pair up as husband and wife, swimming and behaving peacefully, filled with the buzzing sound of bees. In between, there are excellent rock mountains like stacked Pagu, with smooth surfaces and glossy colors, with natural caves, and, with the appearance of bird perches and horse stops, birds and wild animals look pleasing, and it is comfortable to be with them. Without anger or harmful thoughts, they are all loving and at ease, thus naturally calming the minds of meditators. As it is said in the *Bodhicharyavatara*: In the forest, birds and wild animals, trees do not make unpleasant sounds, with those who are comfortable to be with, when will I be able to live together? A cave or an empty temple, or dwelling under a tree, when will I be able to not look back, and become without attachment? So it is said. Also, the delightful forest is the girdle of the goddess, when the half-net of young branches sways, the cuckoos, not frightened by suspicion, spread letters of stories weary of samsara. Thus, the tops of the mountains are adorned with the headdress of the full moon, on the neck, like a silk brocade spread out on a green meadow, the girdle is a beautiful rain cloud, and, the forest that is not foolish, the youth of the young branches is in full bloom, adorned with fragrant leaves and flowers as earrings, those girdles are connected by young branches into strings, forming a net and a half-net, seeing them swayed and moved by the gentle wind, the king of the feathered ones, on the soft and tender youth, the coral's enticement trembles and sways, the groups of cuckoos are also weary of the nature of samsara, wavering, decaying, changing, weary of the unreliable nature, spreading new letters of stories, thereby encouraging meditators to strive. As it is said in the *Letter of Exhortation*: Adorned with the full moon, the girdle is embraced by dense rain clouds, in the open space of the forest on the mountaintop, without attachment, the nature of swaying like the wind is the fortune of longevity. So it is said.
