The reason for this is that if one examines it closely, the nature of harm has no characteristics, like ripples in water. The moment thoughts, angry expressions, and harshness cease, it is empty like the sky, without gain or loss. In this context, transcendent patience is when, regarding the object of harm, one eliminates conceptualizations with the four reversed aspects. When the subject examines the mind, the nature of harm arises only from sudden causes, and it does not have the ability to constantly hold characteristics by its own nature. For example, like ripples in water that appear and disappear in an instant. Gathered by formations, the sudden cessation of anger with conceptualizations causes the cessation of all remaining anger-arising minds. Why? Because it has a mind, and after deliberately thinking, it arises in an instant like an illusion. If one remains in that very nature, then because there is no arising of self-nature, like the sky, because there is no conceptualization, there is no gain or loss. As it is said in the "Ten Wheels of Ksitigarbha Sutra": "All formations are completely pacified, all conceptualizations are completely abandoned, the mind is equal to the sky, everything is entrusted to this patience." Also, in the "Bodhicharyavatara": "Having understood thus, like illusions, one does not become angry with all things." And: "Thus, in empty things, what is there to gain, what is there to lose?" This is patience that practices the Dharma based on the principle of ultimate truth. In the stage of faith, it follows the words; in the seventh stage, it is in accordance; in the eighth stage and so on, it is patience towards the unborn Dharma. As explained in the commentary on the "Bodhicharyavatara." Furthermore, why is it that if the three austerities of patience decline, the other five perfections, such as generosity, are like a path surrounded by enemies, making it difficult to reach the desired place, and one should generate the power of wisdom. Among the three austerities of patience, if the first, the patience of enduring hardship, perishes and the mind becomes timid, then it will become a great obstacle on the path. Thus, all beings are bound by karma, and the causes of happiness are few, while the causes of suffering are many, so practice

The Bodhisattvacharyavatara says, "The cause of happiness is rare, the cause of suffering is very abundant." This depends on one's own past karma or on other conditions. If one engages in virtuous deeds, one will experience various difficulties caused by the worries or actions arising from it. At that time, it is necessary to have the ability to transform the perception of suffering or the lack of tolerance for difficulties into the path through courage. As the Ratnavali says, "To destroy all your afflictions, you should generate an unbearable mind." If one enters the Mahayana path but becomes narrow-minded and lacks steadfast courage, even small difficulties will become factors for turning away from the path. Those who possess great courage, because they turn away from the behavior of cowards, even great suffering and asceticism become companions on the path. For example, when a brave and decisive person enters the battlefield and sees their own blood, it becomes a cause for further courage. But those who are as light and wavering as cottonwood petals, even seeing the blood of others, become frightened, faint, and fall down. The Bodhisattvacharyavatara says, "Some, seeing their own blood, have their courage redoubled; others, seeing the blood of others, faint and collapse. This is due to the difference between cowardice and bravery." Therefore, the eight categories of accepting suffering are: dwelling, worldly dharmas, conduct, fully embracing the Dharma, living by begging, being exhausted by diligence, benefiting sentient beings, and relying on temporary affairs. Similarly, for the patience of necessarily contemplating the Dharma, there are the object of faith, what is to be manifested, the object of desire, what to accept and reject, the object of meditation, following, faith, and the object of knowledge. Generally, in the Bodhisattvabhumi, it is explained in two sets of eight aspects, which should also be practiced through the biography of the Bodhisattva Sadāprarudita. Secondly, if the patience of not caring about harm is lost, the mind of anger itself will bring suffering to oneself.
