is conduct. Being on the ground, the main thing is to benefit sentient beings, so it is the conduct of pleasing sentient beings. Thus it is said. In this regard, there is no fault of not possessing the precepts of benefiting sentient beings at the time of the initial action. Because the continuum that possesses the entering precepts and has not been corrupted, even in the state of mental distraction and sleep, has the nature of constantly existing merit, just like the precepts. In short, relying on these three precepts, accomplish the three trainings of realization and attain enlightenment on the ground of the perfection of abandonment and realization. Thus, the Vinaya precepts perfect abandonment, abandoning the two obscurations and their habitual tendencies. The precepts of accumulating virtuous dharmas obtain perfect realization, knowing the suchness and the extent of things. The precepts of benefiting sentient beings accomplish the cause of perfect benefit to others, and the two benefits are spontaneously accomplished. These are also as stated in the Ornament of the Sutras: The six branches are peaceful and encompassed by meditation, abiding in bliss is the giver, is the support and peaceful and without fear, possessing the accumulation of merit, obtaining the indicated nature of dharma, those who abide in the precepts possess. Having fully understood such precepts, the wise should practice them correctly. Among them, possessing the six branches refers to, as stated in the Hearer's Ground: abiding in the precepts, being tamed by the Vinaya of individual liberation, possessing perfect rituals, possessing perfect conduct, even regarding the slightest fault as a place of fear, properly taking up the objects of training and learning. So it is. The reason is that the collection of afflictions and fears is pacified, thereby attaining the state of peaceful Nirvana. The result is that abiding in bliss itself is giving. The function is to become the support of the accumulation of merit and all qualities. The classification is as stated in the Treasury: called the Vinaya of individual liberation, likewise born of meditation without outflows. Thus, what is properly taken up through indication is individual liberation. What is obtained through the nature of dharma is, born of meditation and without outflows, namely, obtaining the mind of actual meditation, and obtaining the state of the noble ones without outflows such as the path of seeing. Such a precept

The merit of the ground is stated in the Ornament for the Sutras: The sons of the Victorious Ones always take the three trainings, which are the nature of discipline and diligence. They do not desire the heavens, and even if they truly attain them, they do not generate attachment to them. Through discipline itself, they place all beings in the three enlightenments. Discipline is completely grasped by wisdom, so it remains inexhaustible in the world. As it is said. The retinue of discipline is the perfection of patience: On this tolerant earthly ground, the good fragrance of the Dharma increases, and the acceptance of hardships is well protected, without any concern, and there are three types of not being afraid of the profound meaning. Among them, the nature of patience is tolerance, that is, the Great Vehicle is like the earth, which can tolerate all aspects of the conventional and ultimate Dharma, and bear and tolerate with the power of wisdom, thereby protecting the Dharma. In terms of classification, the Ornament for the Sutras says: Tolerance is without concern, and because of relying on the Dharma with compassion, it is truly said that there are five benefits. As it is said, in order to attain Buddhahood for oneself, and in order to accomplish benefits for others, no matter which of these two purposes it is for, encountering any hardships and sufferings, one is willing to accept and bear the burden, this is the patience of accepting hardships. No matter what happens when others directly or indirectly slander and harm oneself, one can prevent the mind of anger from arising, and perfect this habituation, this is the patience of not caring about harm. The unwavering faith in the Dharma is not taken away, and fear of the profound meaning does not arise, this is the patience without an object of focus. The cause of these is great compassion, and the fruits are five, as stated in the sutra: Resentment will not increase, quarrels will not increase, happiness and mental happiness will increase, one will die without regret, and after the body is destroyed, one will also be reborn in the happy realm of the heavens. As it is said. These are also to show the way in which beginners mainly practice the patience of preventing anger. The mind is extremely stiffened by anger, the manifestation of sins, with dark vines, those who fear falling into the hell of no liberation, never give anger a chance. Like a poisonous snake, the mind stream is bound by the stiffness of anger...

What causes sentient beings to experience the great suffering of hell, which is extremely dark in its consequences? Those who fear the results of such actions should train themselves in the sole method of completely habituating their minds to severing the opportunity for anger, and apply themselves to the asceticism of patience. As requested by the daughter Excellent Intellect: "Do not increase the root of harm, anger. Abide in love, desire for Dharma." And as stated in the Bodhicharyavatara: "There is no evil like hatred, no austerity like patience. Therefore, one should diligently meditate on patience in various ways." Thus, if one examines and analyzes the object of harm, the perpetrator himself is also possessed by the demon of afflictions, and therefore is not autonomous. As Chandrakirti said: "Here, sentient beings are not the fault, but the afflictions are the fault. If the wise analyze in this way, they will not be angry with sentient beings." In particular, if one examines the nature of harm, patience will not be achieved, so one must tame one's own mind. The object of harm is like thorns in a forest, difficult to subdue and ever-increasing. If one subdues the perpetrator of malice and anger, the asceticism of patience will become friendly to me. Thus, if one's own mind has the complete ability to prevent anger, one does not need to rely on the untamed mind of another. For the perfection of patience is completed solely by the absence of anger in one's own mind. As stated in the Bodhicharyavatara: "Sentient beings are untamed like the sky, it is truly difficult to subdue them all. One should only subdue the anger of one's own mind, which is like subduing all enemies." For example, there is not enough leather to cover the entire earth, but the leather of the soles of shoes is equal to covering everything. Thus, if patience is achieved, one does not need to suffer physically and mentally from inferior foods such as roots, leaves, sprouts, flowers, wind-food, and rags, because patience is the supreme asceticism. As stated in the Letter to a Friend: "Thus, there is no asceticism superior to patience, therefore you should not give opportunity to anger. The Buddha promised that abandoning anger will lead to the attainment of non-retrogression." Like that. The circumstances of harm.
