Thus it is. However, if a beginner, after examining the nature of a transgression, expands upon it with emptiness, it means they do not understand the true meaning of that teaching. If looking at emptiness could purify, then even the secret words of nihilists would become meaningful. Therefore, after the experience of reality is stable, and after experiencing the meaning of having neither confession nor practice, the way to confess is as stated in the Bodhisattva Pitaka: Any Bodhisattva who knows that there is no karma and no fruition will obtain the purification of the obscuration of wisdom. Thus it is. The two cases just mentioned are aimed at those of middling faculties. For beginners, relying on the four powers is best. However, it is not very reasonable to say that someone is not a beginner just because they are older or entered the path earlier, even though this term is very popular in the world. The Tathagata's statement that "children are ordinary beings" refers to those whose minds, while not wanting their own suffering, desire the causes of suffering, such as harming others. Children are not harmonious with each other, Desires do not weary them. As it is said, therefore most people today can be considered beginners. The power of reliance is: relying on shame and embarrassment, relying on a virtuous friend who holds the Mahayana precepts, and relying on the special blessings of the Tathagata, or visualizing Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and their retinues in the sky in front, especially in the presence of the Bodhisattva Akashagarbha, who vowed to purify the transgressions of Bodhisattvas, taking refuge with one's own mind-stream as the basis, and with compassion looking at sentient beings, and with wisdom looking at perfect enlightenment, the special minds of the union of skillful means and wisdom. The power of repudiation is: not concealing the transgressions that have occurred, but stating their names and confessing with strong remorse. The power of applying remedies is: reciting the names of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, building Buddha images and stupas, repairing damaged Buddha images and stupas, healing diseases, circumambulating stupas, reciting profound sutras and tantras, and reciting the Hundred Syllable Mantra and other methods of purifying sins and obscurations.
