It was granted based on his request. Regarding this, in order to purify all past obscurations, and to purify the remaining mind and wisdom, one performs the Uposatha of calming abiding; in order to prevent the continuation of future lives, and to purify the remaining discipline, one performs the corresponding Uposatha. Among these two Uposathas, I will briefly explain the meaning of the latter. These are the fourteenth day, the fifteenth day, the auspicious Uposatha, the Uposatha for averting harm, and the Uposatha of reconciliation, these five. The first is that, by distinguishing the differences between the day, date, and non-overlapping fasting days, there are six fourteenth Uposatha days each year. As it says in the Vinaya Sutra: "The first, eighth, fifteenth, and thirtieth, these are all on the dark side, the fourteenth day of the half-month Uposatha." The second is the twelve fasting days of the waxing moon, and the six waning moons from the Pleiades month (Tibetan tenth month) to the Shravana month (Tibetan eighth month), totaling eighteen. Among them, regarding the regulations for postponement, it is said that one should follow the instructions of the king, which is considering that there will be wise mathematicians around the king. Why? Know that the constellations are to follow the instructions of the astrologer. The third is, in order to eliminate the ten unlawful things established by the Bhikshu Mahadeva, and what is done at auspicious times such as consecration, hence the name. The fourth is, in order to avert sudden declines in the world such as diseases and plagues, or to prevent them from happening again. The fifth is the Uposatha done in order to harmonize the Sangha. Thus, these three irregular Uposathas, in the ritual of supplication, are merely the difference of reciting their respective times. Here, for the two regular Uposathas, if a large boundary is defined, it is performed there; if both large and small boundaries are defined, it starts from the small boundary and enters the large boundary, etc., according to the ritual. And the performers are the five kinds of ordained ones. That is, from the time of the previous Uposatha until today, one examines whether there have been any transgressions in one's own mindstream, and if there have been, one should proceed according to the order of confession, protection, and blessing. After that, regarding the material of the Ghandi for gathering the Sangha, the Vinaya Sutra says: Sandalwood, Bilva, Palasha, Ashvattha and red sandalwood, large-bellied wood, Daru, Kimshuka, Shisha and Tamala, Mango, Sa

Kyu ru ra, Tinti sara ashoka. Even if all these are not available, strive to make it with Olse. The measurement is, from the mouth to the finger's length, make it eighty-four. The width is six fingers, and the height is two fingers. With the measurement of the finger joints, the measurement of the four corners is two fingers. If it is made well and evenly, it is very clear, like the shape of a head sharpened at both ends. Then, the one used for striking should also be cut from that wood. The measurement of twelve fingers, make it round, sharpened at both ends, like the head of a weasel. The holding measurement is also the same. Thus it is said. Therefore, the Dharmakaya is free from the three states of birth, cessation, and abiding, so it is originally unborn and virtuous. Thus, it is placed at the top of the monastery or above the gatehouse during consecration. The striker, whether it is one of the five kinds of monks or a layperson abiding in Uposatha, can take it up and strike it after first prostrating to the Three Jewels. The method of striking, even if written as "Shangtsa," the Sanskrit pronunciation is sadja, with three dots added before it. To gather the Sangha, when ringing the bell, strike it three times, and finally add three loud "tok" sounds. To gather for Uposatha and other Dharma activities and to listen to the Dharma, strike it once and add three "tok" sounds. Or strike it three times and add two "tok" sounds. To expel evil spirits, do not add the "tok" sound, indicating removal. To avert harm, there is no fixed number, that is, strike it thirty-five or thirty-six times each time, gradually increasing the sound from the first to the eighteenth of the two methods, and gradually decreasing the sound from the nineteenth to the end of the number. Thus, when the material, size, and conditions for striking the bell are all complete, it has great benefits. The Sutra of the Bell says: The Mother Prajnaparamita abides in the form of a bell. It also says: Whenever the king is in the country, when the bell sounds, there will be splendor and fame, wishes and good harvests. And so on. Hearing the bell at the four times, those people will attain Bodhi. Whoever rejoices from the heart, that person will be liberated, without a doubt. And so on, benefits, and if the material size and striking method are not proper, it will cause harm to the country and disharmony among the Sangha.
