Because of the agreement of meaning, it becomes the cause for others to follow oneself, as it is said in the Ornament of the Sutras: "Giving is the same, accepting that meaning, causing it to enter, oneself following all people, delighting in hearing words and acting on meaning, this is called the agreement of meaning." Thus, by the four objects of gathering, and by the mind of enlightenment, through direct or indirect means, accomplishing all the benefit and happiness of sentient beings, is the discipline of benefiting sentient beings, but in the Bodhisattva Grounds, the ways of benefiting others are summarized into twelve kinds, and the way of doing so will be explained below based on examples. Thus, the nature of the three disciplines of the Bodhisattva is from the Jewel Heap Sutra: "Thus, the discipline of restraint protects the mind from non-virtue. The discipline of gathering virtuous dharmas manifests the root of virtue. The discipline of benefiting sentient beings is to diligently benefit others." Thus, both the Pratimoksha and the Bodhisattva's vows, the Bodhisattva's mind is superior to the Pratimoksha in four ways: the Pratimoksha only prevents harm to others based on the root, the Bodhisattva's mind adds benefit to others on top of that, the Pratimoksha is summarized by seven abandonments, with the body and speech as the main focus, and the Bodhisattva's mind focuses on all ten abandonments. Among them, the precepts of the Pratimoksha are one aspect of the training of the ordained who have the Bodhisattva's vows, but for the ordained who are not Bodhisattvas, they are cultivated as a superior dharma by adding training, thus, the Pratimoksha relies on the discipline of restraining misconduct in one's own mind, and is only the discipline of preventing harm to others based on the root. The Bodhisattva adds benefit to others on top of not harming others, that is, possessing all three: restraining misconduct, gathering virtuous dharmas, and benefiting sentient beings. The Pratimoksha is practiced mainly with the body and speech, summarized by seven abandonments, while the Bodhisattva practices mainly with the ten abandonments that possess intention, as the Compendium of Perfections says: "This is the path of happiness for higher realms and liberation, one should not deviate from these ten paths of action, abiding in this, one can generate the intention to benefit sentient beings, this is the difference of intention.

There will be results. Speech, body, and mind should be properly tamed. In short, this is the discipline, as spoken by the Victorious Ones. Thus it is. However, in addition to knowing what is allowed and prohibited, the way to learn is: Especially the place of learning is during individual liberation. For the sake of others, what is prescribed is not transgressed. If a Bodhisattva transforms for the benefit of others, the seven non-virtues of body and speech, knowing that they transform for the benefit of others, or will transform, and that one's own accumulation of virtue does not obstruct growth, these three situations, after observing, there is a time for permission. Like the black man with great mental strength holding a short spear, and the Brahmin boy with the star as an example, the formal fault is actually good in meaning. Because it is done with the powerful cause and effect in mind. There is no time for permission for the three of mind. Thus, in the vows of individual liberation, even if it is for the benefit of others, it is not allowed to transgress what is prescribed. A Bodhisattva transforms for the benefit of others, or knows that it will transform, and that one's own virtue is more abundant than that, and does not interrupt it, and on top of that, it grows with the power of the mind's attraction, these three situations, after observing, there is a time for permission. In the teaching of the path of the ten virtuous actions, it is said: Those who do not look at their own benefit even a little, and only desire the benefit of others, and at all times, are full of compassion, except for the three evil deeds of mind, or only except for wrong views, it seems that there is generally permission. For this, one should consult the treatises that establish the Bodhisattva vows. Thus it is said. These two intentions are only observed with sharp wisdom at the root of the initial generation, and their nature must be connected with constant altruism, so they arise from the path of mental action, and these two can also be summarized as having a time for permission. Some people infer from this, such as when Manjushri's faith is reversed and he enters the heretics, there is no mention of falling into sin, etc., taking this as an example is not reasonable. Because the prescribed discipline follows the eyes and ears, it shows that wrong views arise from the gates of body and speech. However, the unprescribed discipline is from the gate of mental awareness, skilled in the means of taming them, and without wrong views, so in between and in between the Three Jewels.
