It is so. As stated in the Sutra Requested by Sagacious Intellect: "The sons of gods who dwell in desire and form realms, ninety-six in number who perform actions, for these dharmas, they possess a pure Dharma-eye, free from dust and defilement." Thus it is said. At that time, emptiness and compassion are combined without being mutually exclusive, and although the truth of the first ground, the nature of reality, is directly seen, it is not seen as it is in its own essence, like the extremely pure eighth ground and so on, because it possesses the obscurations of what is abandoned by seeing on its own ground and what is abandoned by meditation by the noble ones. That is to say, from the point of view of its own nature, there are three things: cause, effect, and essence. The first is the path of accumulation and junction of the Great Vehicle. The second is the two paths of meditation and no-more-learning. The third has four aspects: definition, basis, division, and characteristics. The first is: the Dharma-patience and Dharma-wisdom of the Great Vehicle, the subsequent patience and subsequent wisdom, these four sets of four cycles, can be referred to as the path of seeing of the Great Vehicle. It arises after the completion of the junction path of the Great Vehicle, and whatever virtue is gathered by it becomes the cause for the first moment of the supramundane path of meditation of the Great Vehicle to arise in the continuum. The second is: each of the four truths has four kinds of Dharma-knowing patience, Dharma-knowing, subsequent-knowing patience, and subsequent-knowing, that is, eight sets of two cycles, as stated in the Ornament: In the truths such as suffering, Dharma-knowing, subsequent-knowing, Patience and knowledge are sixteen moments. From the perspective of the grounds, when the first supramundane wisdom is manifested, one is close to enlightenment, and one obtains great joy never before experienced because one sees the accomplishment of benefiting others, so one is very joyful. As it says therein: Also close to enlightenment, etc., as quoted in the sixth chapter. The third is: each of the four sequences of suffering, origin, cessation, and path has the nature of sixteen moments such as Dharma-patience. The fourth has five internal divisions, the first of which is: the difference of antidote and the difference of abandonment, the first of which is: As stated in the Uttaratantra: Whatever discriminating thoughts such as miserliness are considered to be the obscuration of afflictions, the three spheres.

"Whatever is conceptual thought, that is considered the obscuration of knowledge." Therefore, the imputed aspects of afflictive obscurations are those to be abandoned on the path of seeing. To eradicate their seeds from the root, the special antidote, the four kshantis of dharma, is the path of immediate consequence. The four jñānas of dharma are the path of reliance, antidote, and liberation. The four subsequent kshantis and four subsequent jñānas are the special antidote that extends the connection. That is, the four jñānas of dharma regarding suffering, origin, cessation, and path, just as the nature of one intellect is divided into four aspects of the four truths, so too are their respective subsequent kshantis and subsequent jñānas the same. Secondly, regarding the distinctions of abandonment, there are two aspects: essence and categories. As for the essence, from the Madhyāntavibhāga: "The obscuration of afflictions and the obscuration of knowledge are taught as two obscurations. All obscurations are there, and liberation is attained when they are exhausted." Therefore, liberation comes from both the afflictive obscurations and the obscurations of knowledge that are abandoned on the path of seeing in one's own nature. That is, whatever non-virtue does not completely pacify the mind, or the obscured and unspecified miserliness and other afflictive obscurations, and the virtuous contaminated qualities with the clinging to the truth of the three spheres, or the grasping object of the un obscured and unspecified nature, and the conceptual thought of the grasper, the object-possessor, are the obscurations of knowledge. Among these, the imputed aspects of afflictive obscurations are those to be abandoned on the path of seeing, while the innate ones are those to be abandoned on the path of meditation. Similarly, the coarse conceptual thoughts of grasping and being grasped, which are obscurations of knowledge, are those to be abandoned on the path of seeing, while the subtle ones are those to be abandoned on the path of meditation. As for the categories, generally speaking, all imputed aspects that become obstacles to the path of seeing. Among these, there are two aspects: categories and methods of abandonment. The first is divided into two: categorization from the perspective of essence and categorization from the perspective of the way of entering wrongly. The first is: desire, anger, pride, ignorance, and doubt, these five. The second is: looking at the perishable collection, the view of clinging to extremes, wrong view, the view of holding views as supreme, the view of holding ethics and asceticism as supreme, totaling ten. Thus, when the five views enter the four truths such as the truth of suffering of the desire realm, they also enter in accordance with the five non-views, so there are ten each, totaling forty. On top of that, the four truths of the two upper realms, except for anger, the other nine enter.
