To truly see that, to be liberated upon truly seeing. Thus, the wisdom of individual discernment transcends the realm of ordinary beings' minds and manifests, and this is established as the view of the Middle Way. As it is also said in the Ratnakuta Sutra: Kashyapa, the mind cannot be found even if searched everywhere. That which cannot be found is not an object of focus. Therefore, one should truly see the reality of that which is naturally pure. 'Seeing' is also conventional truth; the best meditation is not moving from one's natural state. Before that, neither mind nor attention remains. In that, naturally pure means not defiled by artificial rituals. Although one does not perceive other objects with that very nature, it is not like a blind person who lacks the necessary conditions, nor is it like being overcome by sleep. It is also superior to the absorption of non-perception, so one abides in the yoga of suchness in all activities, and desires to be connected with the meaning of selflessness. Thus, if one analyzes with wisdom, seeing the true wisdom is precisely not seeing all phenomena. As it says in the intermediate Mother Sutra: Seeing the meaning of not seeing anything at all. And: What is seeing in the ultimate sense? It is not seeing all phenomena. Thus, the term 'seeing' is applied to such a state. As it says in the Entering [the Middle Way]: Therefore, by seeing the emptiness of self and what belongs to self, that yogi will be liberated. Thus, one follows the way of realizing that all phenomena are without inherent existence through true wisdom, and one is liberated. One also follows the way of seeing that those five aggregates are naturally empty and completely pure. Thus, it is combined with the meaning of the Heart Sutra. Although it is so, if one examines the words 'to see,' then at that time, that becomes emptiness through attention, making the state of mind extremely unfavorable, becoming an emptiness established by conventional, discriminating consciousness, becoming a branch of existence. Why? Because the individual discernment of the Middle Way is desired to be without discrimination in the ultimate state. As it says in the Kashyapaparivarta Sutra: Kashyapa, furthermore, one does not individually discern form as permanent, nor does one individually discern it as impermanent. This is the Middle Way of all dharmas.

It is called individual discrimination. Light Guardian, "permanent" is one extreme. "Impermanent" is the other extreme. What is in the middle of these two extremes is unanalyzable, unshowable, non-dependent, non-appearing, non-discriminating, and without location. Light Guardian, this is the Middle Way's individual discrimination of phenomena. Light Guardian, "self" is one extreme. "Selflessness" is the other extreme. Light Guardian, "exists" is one extreme. "Does not exist" is the other extreme. What is in the middle of these two is unanalyzable, unshowable, non-dependent, non-appearing, non-discriminating, and without location. Light Guardian, this is the Middle Way's individual discrimination of phenomena. Thus, he taught extensively. Therefore, not moving from the state of the great Middle Way, which is without own-being or essence, is the best meditation, because in a state free from effortful mind, one goes to Nirvana. From the purification of limitless doors, the Middle Way is the path to Nirvana. Nirvana is nowhere to go. Because there is not even a little going there, all phenomena are equal in Nirvana. This infinitely adorned Middle Way is neither practice nor non-practice, so all phenomena to be taken are equal in Nirvana. Having taught this, since in this place there is no other measure than the Tathagata himself, one should not rely on any doubt. Some people think that as long as it is the wisdom of individual discrimination, it will be bound by the sharp analysis of clinging, and if one abandons the attention to discriminating one's own nature, there is no light of wisdom. Thinking this, they quote this statement of truth: "If from correct individual discrimination, the fire of knowing as it is arises, like fire produced by rubbing wood, it will burn the wood of discrimination." The meaning of this is: not relying on the causes of intelligence and attention, like the seed of fire arising from steel, but using the fire arising from the rubbing wood itself to burn the firewood itself as an example, to illustrate intelligence and consideration.
