We and others, in the state of knowing without discrimination and distraction, the alaya-consciousness that appears to grasp objects, and the consciousness that does not allow clinging to it in its clarity, that relies on the five senses for rejecting, establishing, accepting, and rejecting, and is named the seven consciousnesses of delusion, and arises from the five elements, mountains and forests, buildings, pottery, cloth, trellises, sprouts from seeds, and butter from yogurt, all material things that arise from the cause of action are external dependent arising, that is, arising in a way that one depends on the other. Thus it is said, in the Lankavatara Sutra: "Great Wisdom, just as pottery arises from a lump of clay, cloth from thread, trellises from resin, sprouts from seeds, and churning and other human efforts, and butter from yogurt, this is, Great Wisdom, external dependent arising, the latter arising from the former." So it is said. Internal dependent arising is: from ignorance arises action, likewise, one depending on the other, the connection until old age and death is internal dependent arising. Among these, the Mahayana system has already been explained, but here, according to the Sravaka Vinaya Pitaka, the aggregates of the previous life's afflictions when they are experienced are ignorance. Likewise, the five aggregates at the time of accumulating karma in the previous life are action. Then, the five aggregates at the time of conception in the mother's womb are consciousness. Then, experiencing the five states of change such as curdling, until the sense faculties have not yet opened, the five aggregates are name and form. After the sense faculties have opened, until one cannot experience objects, the five aggregates are the six sense bases. From the time the senses awaken to objects, until one cannot distinguish between pleasure and pain, the five aggregates are touch. From distinguishing between pleasure and pain, until one cannot experience the pleasure of intercourse, the five aggregates are feeling. From being able to engage in intercourse, until one has not taken desirable objects, the five aggregates are craving. The five aggregates in the state of taking desirable objects are grasping. Then, the five aggregates in the state of accumulating karma are

Is "becoming." Then, the five aggregates that arise from the womb at the beginning of the next life are "birth." Then, the "name and form," "six sense sources," "contact," "craving," and "feeling" of the next life are all "aging and death," as stated in the Treasury of Knowledge: There are two at the beginning and end, and eight in the middle, fully complete. Ignorance and affliction are the prior state, actions are from prior karma, consciousness is the connecting aggregate, name and form are after that, before the six sense sources arise, that is before the three come together, contact is the cause of pleasure and pain, before the ability to know, feeling is before attachment, craving is enjoying sexual love, for those who are attached, close taking is all enjoyments, running around to obtain them, that is the becoming that produces future fruit, connection is birth, between feeling is aging and death. Also, as stated in the Salu Green Tree Sutra: What are name and form and the six sense sources, that is aging and death. It is the same from birth to feeling. The way these twelve links of dependent origination are completed is twofold: momentary and continuous. The first is: In terms of the moment of completing an action, with the power of both self and others, the mind of unknowingly committing sin when taking a life is ignorance, the part of engaging in action is action, the consciousness at the time of action is consciousness, one's own and others' name and form and six sense sources, the part of striking with a weapon is contact, the part of pleasure and pain that arises from that is feeling, the mind that is happy to accept again and again is craving, from that, entering the next life is taking, from that, the part that possesses the five aggregates is becoming, from that, the part of the present and the future is birth, the aging and death of that part, that is, one action is fully possessed in the moment from beginning to completion. Also, for the knowable object, knowledge suddenly entering is the moment at the end, one hundred and twenty moments like that are its moment, that is, three kinds. The second is: As the Hearers believe that one cause and effect is completed in three lifetimes, thus the ignorance and action of the previous life act as the cause, relying on that, the five results such as consciousness arise in this life, the three of craving, taking, and becoming in this life act as the cause.
