Among the two differences in acceptance, the first is: that which appears in conventional truth, but does not actually exist, like dreams and illusions. Although it seems to arise in one's own mind-stream, in reality, from the objects of consciousness, such as the two truths, to all phenomena of samsara and nirvana, nothing is established. As it says in the Intermediate Mother (Yum bar ma): "Manjushri, all phenomena are without inherent nature in the ultimate sense, therefore nirvana is neither born nor ceases." Therefore, the distinction and characteristics of the two truths are merely the differentiation of their nature, so they should be regarded as the ultimate truth in name only. In the face of the ultimate truth that is not in name, since it transcends the scope of knowable and expressible, it should be reasoned in the way of cutting off elaboration, because it is liberated from wrongly assuming with logic such as one and many, existence and non-existence. Moreover, from the treatises of Madhyamaka, it is well known that the ultimate truth of no arising and ceasing is determined by the logic of the four great reasonings. In particular, each chapter of the Root Wisdom also has different types of reasoning that determine the subtle points of emptiness. For example, the first chapter of the Root Wisdom explains ten different explanations and two different conclusions, a total of twelve. Here, for the time being, reasoning should be done in the four well-known ways: Vajra Splinters, Existence and Non-existence, Arising and Ceasing, Four Extremes, and Great Dependent Arising. The first is: examining the cause of what is to be refuted, and then refuting what is to be refuted. As it says in the Root Wisdom: "Not from self, nor from other, nor from both, nor from no cause. Where are the phenomena, where is there no arising?" Therefore, the nature of phenomena, just things, is not produced from self, other, both, and no cause in the ultimate sense, so emptiness pervades all produced phenomena, just like there is only a general image and no thing. The second is: examining the result of what is to be refuted, and then refuting it. As the verse says: "For existence and non-existence, what is the condition? If there is nothing, what is the condition? If there is something, what is the condition?" Therefore, the nature of phenomena, this dependent arising of appearance, is also free from the three situations of existence, non-existence, and arising of the result on the cause in the ultimate sense, because in this way, any result arising from the cause

Emptiness of arising from existence and non-existence, emptiness of all arising things, for example, although there is no thing, it is represented by its own nature. Third, examining both cause and effect and then refuting them, as it says in the 'Entering the Two Truths': 'Many do not make one thing, many do not make many things, one does not make many things, nor does one make one.' Thus, the four ways of arising, which appear as one arising from one, many arising from one, many arising from many, and one arising from many, are empty of arising. For example, calling something that does not exist 'space'. Fourth, there are two: establishing non-affirmation as a reason, that is, the great dependent arising, examining its own nature and then refuting it; establishing non-existence as a reason, that is, being separate from one and many. First, whatever arises from conditions is unborn, because it does not have the nature of arising. Thus, dependent arising is also free from the eight extremes such as arising and ceasing, so it is empty of true nature, for example, the dependent arising that appears like a moving mirage is not merely non-ceasing. Second, there are three ways to reason: establishing the reason, establishing the subject, and examining with certainty through valid cognition. Among them, the first is: if it is pervasive with being separate from one and many, then it is pervasive with being empty of true entities. Second, the teacher Āryadeva said: 'Just as a moment has space, so should the beginning and the middle be examined, because of the nature of three moments, the world does not abide in a moment.' Thus, from the sign of existing between day and night, or between morning and evening, or between the past and future moments, it is inferred to have three parts, thus it is established that in the ultimate sense, there is no part, and it abides in the subject that is separate from one. Third, the Lord of Reasoning said: 'Whatever has the ability to perform a function, that does not exist here in the ultimate sense.' That is to say, merely negating that an existing thing is a multiple thing, one is determined. One is determined when it exists as a thing, because merely for an existing thing, it is determined to be pervasive with existing as one or existing as many, then this very existing thing that is seen as the pervasive object of one and many, even if it is an ultimate thing, is its one and many.
