My non-existent ultimate truth, from the perspective of the two truths, is the negation of arising, etc., and is established in accordance with reality. To that which is unborn and pacifies all elaborations, the term 'ultimate truth' is applied. Thus, for the benefit of sentient beings, the two truths are taught with skillful means, but in terms of the nature of things themselves, there is no difference, like Maheśvara. The union of appearance and emptiness, where the two truths intermingle, is like the reflection of the moon entering a pond. From the aspect of appearance, it is the conventional truth, and the ultimate truth is that which is not established by its own nature. The establishment of the conventional is like the reflection of the moon entering a pond; from the aspect of appearance at the time of seeing, it is established conventionally, but in terms of the moon not being real, it is equal in the ultimate sense. The two, like the image of the moon and the pond not being mixed, are of the same essence in appearance, and experiencing the absence of inherent existence is called realizing the two truths. That is to say, from the level of one's own mind, the part that transcends the world is the ultimate truth, and the part that abides in the world is the conventional truth. In the *Mahāparinirvāṇa Sūtra*, Mañjuśrīkumārabhūta said: 'Bhagavan, what is the meaning of conventional truth and ultimate truth? Does ultimate truth contain conventional truth? Does conventional truth contain ultimate truth? If it does, then the two truths become one. If it does not, then would the words spoken by the Tathāgata become false?' The Buddha said: 'Son of good family, conventional truth itself is ultimate truth.' 'Bhagavan, in that case, the two truths are confused.' The Buddha said: 'Son of good family, the two truths are taught with skillful means for the benefit of sentient beings. Son of good family, in terms of speech, there are two types: worldly dharma and transcendental dharma. Son of good family, the wisdom of a transcendental being is the ultimate truth, and the consciousness of an ordinary person is the conventional truth.' Thus it is. The consciousness of an ordinary person is what is referred to in the *Ratnakara*, like the tracks of birds in the sky, beings are also non-existent from the beginning. Like looking at the hair of a castrated goat.

Likewise, observe the peaceful nature of Dharma, like the reflection of a face in a mirror. The wise ones explain its self-nature as emptiness. Thus it is. Even so, for the moment, view the consciousness of the five objects as if colors are not mixed. Taking hold of the enjoyment of desires such as forms, clinging to them, and generating discriminating thoughts of negation and affirmation, contemplate the deceptive appearances as the eight similes of illusion. Thus, on the path of practice through faith, the phenomena that appear, namely form, sound, smell, taste, and touch—the five objects of desire—when the mind of the subject enters into them, all the deceptive appearances that arise as discriminating thoughts of negation and affirmation are contemplated as appearing but without self-nature through the eight similes of illusion. Those who are accustomed to and realize this are liberated from the city of existence, and thus can be said to have grasped the path of liberation. However, not being content with just that, the manner of greatly practicing on the Bodhisattva path is that the Shravakas and Bodhisattvas may enter and arise from Samadhi, but the Shravakas only know their own Nirvana, while the Bodhisattvas do not cease the effort to gather sentient beings with the four objects of gathering, and they fully ripen sentient beings with the six perfections, and they also generate great compassion for sentient beings. This is the skillful means of the Bodhisattva. Thus, and so on, is extensively explained. Thus, the division into the two truths is also that, at the time of equipoise, if it can be analyzed by ultimate wisdom, then it is not the ultimate truth, because wisdom is the conventional truth. The characteristics that contradict one and many have never existed in the realm of wisdom. Thus, the nature of the ultimate truth is free from the appearance of wisdom, grasper and grasped, and the elaborations that appear before it are the conventional truth, so there is no establishment in either one or different, so the two truths are just empty words, but because they do not fall to any side on one basis, they cannot be analyzed by wisdom. If what can be analyzed by wisdom is the ultimate truth, then the horn of a rabbit should also be established as having shape and color. This can be analyzed by wisdom, but it is only imputed by wisdom, so it never transcends the conventional, conditioned phenomena that include the eight aggregates of consciousness, so it is a practice that is completely contrary to the ultimate truth.
