Training to exchange my happiness for the suffering of sentient beings in all places is the supreme method of mind training. As it is said in the Bodhisattvacharyavatara: "If one does not completely exchange one's own happiness for the suffering of others, one will not attain Buddhahood, and there will be no happiness even in samsara. Let alone the next world! Just as not providing work for servants and not giving rewards to masters, the benefits of this life will not be achieved either." Therefore, in the initial stage, just as oneself likes perfection, other sentient beings also like perfection. Just as oneself does not want to suffer, other sentient beings are the same. Therefore, observing that protecting oneself and abandoning others is not good, one should view oneself and others as equal. Habituate oneself to this, and taking all sentient beings as one's own responsibility, at the moment when one's own breath of happiness is exhaled, visualize that everything is given to others. At the moment of inhaling, take in the suffering of others along with oneself, and practice this giving and taking. As mentioned earlier: "An army without laziness, taking responsibility, subduing one's own mind, viewing self and others as equal, practice exchanging self and others." Thus, when contemplating the great deeds of Bodhisattvas, if one feels fear and laziness, thinking that someone like me cannot match them, then one should generate courage like a swallow building a nest on a rock. Just as a peacock cherishes its feathers, take on the responsibility. Just as an eagle soars in the sky, subdue your own mind. Having acted in this way, in the past, I regarded all sentient beings as parents, but did not strive for their benefit, and actions such as employing others for my own benefit have led to being enslaved by kings and others even now. Therefore, now one should aim to benefit other sentient beings, generate the courage to gladly subdue oneself, and train to be inseparable from the Bodhicitta that explains this. As that treatise says: "If one harms others for oneself, one will suffer in hell and other places. If one harms oneself for others, one will obtain all perfections. If someone wants to be high above, they will fall into the lower realms, becoming wicked and foolish."

If this is transferred to others, one will gradually attain happiness in the good realms. If one employs others for one's own sake, one will experience being a slave, etc. If one employs oneself for the sake of others, one will experience being a lord, a master, etc. All the happiness in the world arises from the desire for the happiness of others. All the suffering in the world arises from the desire for one's own happiness. What need is there to say more? Look at the difference between a child who only works for himself and the Buddha who performs deeds for the benefit of others! Thus, train well. Such training also abides in the nature of the four immeasurables, and the first of the four also arises from repaying kindness, and from that, the manner of achieving sequentially like cause and effect. The four immeasurables of the aspiration training are also: from repaying kindness, loving-kindness arises; from loving-kindness, compassion arises; from compassion, the mind of enlightenment arises; arising is also truly accomplished by the scriptural authority of measurement. Regarding this, the Bengali Pandit considers knowing the mother, remembering kindness, repaying kindness, pleasing loving-kindness, pure higher intention, affectionate great compassion, and the ultimate unsurpassed result itself as the sevenfold cause and effect instruction. Therefore, having regarded all sentient beings as mothers, the way to remember their kindness: Like a newly born weak person, the mother's embrace is like a bathroom, touching all impure things with her hands, serving with milk, covering with bodily contact. For the sake of the young child, she would rather die herself, able to endure all sins, sufferings, and evil words. If one is ungrateful, who is more upside down and confused than that? It is said. Then, by what reason do we know that all sentient beings have been my parents? In the Sutra of the Great Nirvana of the Holy One, it says: If this great earth were made into balls the size of peas, and if the number of times a sentient being has been my parent were counted, this great earth would be exhausted, but the number of times a sentient being has been a parent would not be exhausted. Therefore, from beginningless time, newly born sentient beings are very weak, like the shape of a worm or a small insect, the functions of limbs and organs are not yet complete, although feelings appear as pleasure and pain, the power of the senses is weak, and the appearance is not pleasing.
